The Opportunity

Our Diagnostics business currently has an opportunity for a Senior Buyer located at our Irving, TX office. The Senior Buyer will be responsible to manage the procurement process of defined spend categories of materials, components, and/or goods and services, including supplier selection, commercial negotiation, contracting and relationship management. Ensures best value for the company through developing and executing strategies to positively impact quality, delivery, risk, and cost.

What You'll Work On

  • Build strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders/functions across the business to anticipate demand and requirements for materials and services.
  • Implement procurement strategies that deliver best value to the business.
  • Develop cross functional working relationships and networks to implement procurement strategies and performance improvement programs.
  • Improve cost and margin performance through positively influencing external costs, utilizing cost analysis techniques, competitive tendering processes, and the effective use of tools and processes.
  • Negotiates commercial and contract terms, in line within established limits of authority.
  • Evaluate and select best in class suppliers to meet the needs of the business.
  • Continually improves quality and delivery performance, through the development and implementation of improvement programs.
  • Understand category and supplier risks, develop, and implement risk mitigation strategies, whilst communicating effectively through the business.
  • Manages collaborative relationships with external suppliers, through sound relationship management techniques and the use of Business Review processes.
  • Analyze and understand the market, market trends, technology, and the evolving needs of the business, and ensure procurement strategies are updated and proactively support the business.
  • Ensures that all communications, actions, interactions, and behaviors are consistent with ADD core values and the Abbott Code of Conduct.
  • Manages compliance with current ADD quality system, good manufacturing practice, corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Guarantees compliance with EHS regulations and Abbott standards by adhering to EHS systems, programs, and procedures, being accountable for the Health & Safety of themselves and others and by highlighting where improvements to EHS performance can be made.
  • Ensure timely completion of own training records/status to ensure compliance with the ETMS/ISO training system.
  • Adhere to and ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, documentation, and training requirements.
  • Provide purchasing analysis in support of excess and obsolete inventory management for assigned commodities.
  • Lead business reviews of Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Resolve supplier issues as required.
  • Lead contract negotiations.
  • Prepare RFQ.RFI and RFP as required.
  • Perform price analysis.
  • Support development of negotiation strategies and participate in negotiations assigned.
  • Provide purchasing support for NPI projects as assigned.
  • Participate in cost reduction initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 6-8 years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in purchasing environment.
  • Knowledge of materials and inventory planning/management policies.
  • Project leadership and excellent negotiant skills.
  • Knowledge of regulations and standards.
  • Good computer skills- ideally MS Office knowledge.
  • Good problem solving and communication skills.
  • High attention to details and high standards of accuracy.
  • Flexibility and able to adapt to changing circumstances and business requirements.

The base pay for this position is $83,000.00 – $166,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
