The primary responsibility of this position is to accurately and timely manage the cash payments for the US residuals revenue cycle. The position is critical in maintaining the integrity of residuals accounting and in partnering with residual customers, Procurement, Contract Administration, and mill and corporate Accounting to maximize recovery of lumber by-products, minimize production down-time, and ensure safe conditions at the mills. To be successful, the person in this role will need to learn the US residuals business, build relationships with key stakeholders and become intimately involved in the entire revenue cycle.Responsibilities:
- Analyze payment remittances to determine product, customer type, selling location and contractual adjustments
- Record payments and contractual adjustments accurately and timely, based on payment analysis
- Work with mill Accounting, Procurement and Contract Administrator to research and resolve discrepancies identified in payment analysis.
- Identify and communicate pricing issues with Contract Administrator and Procurement
- Provide support to customers to resolve issues and clear balances
- Reconcile posted payments to bank deposits
- Assist in collection of past due balances
- Ensure compliance with company policies related to payment processing and financial reporting
- Special projects and other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in accounting or equivalent experience
- 5+ years in accounting
- 3+ years in revenue cycle
- Comprehensive understanding of the entire revenue cycle
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles
- A high level of independence, accountability, teamwork, good judgement, and attention to detail in a fast-paced changing environment
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; Oracle, JDE or comparable ERP system preferred
- Ability to perform quick mathematical calculations
- Experience in lumber industry and related systems a plus
