Job DescriptionAmerican Greetings is looking for a Sr. Category Analyst to carry out standard reporting and data analysis from a number of data sources, including Point-of-Sale, shipments, product footage, pockets and other internal data management/mining systems. In this role, you will analyze and interpret data using category management and statistical techniques in order to improve sales performance at retail. Our ideal candidate will be able to have significant product, merchandising, and business process knowledge which enable them to work independently in supporting the business. Supports Sales, Production Management, and Operations to secure placement, improve execution, and improve productivity.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:•Evaluates and develops analysis methodologies to track, analyze, and plan retailer opportunities. This individual leverages Point-of-Sale, shipment, pockets and product footage data to provide breakthrough insights for the retailer, Sales, and Product Merchant teams.•Works directly with Card Merchant and other product teams to provide insights, information, and support in updating product offering.•Works with product and operations teams to provide information and support to efficiently execute programs.•Track merchandising and promotional efforts and tests to determine if they were efficient and effective, and make recommendations for improvement.•Communicate insights effectively, both verbally and in writing. The accuracy of reporting and analysis is paramount as many reports are directly shared with retailers and upper management.•Work with Puerto Rico to provide reporting and analytical support for individual needs of the Puerto Rico buyer.•Work with the Walmart SAM Team Operations group to provide reporting and analytical support for field communication and program execution tracking.•Provide information and analytical support to the Walmart Category Manager in developing space allocation models and other initiative development functions.•Provide information and support to Walmart Sales, Merchant, and Category Managers in preparing sales presentations to Walmart buyers.•Plays a role in training Category Analyst and developing report and analysis requirements.Experience Required:Required Length & Type of Experience:•A minimum of 3+ years experience applying quantitative methods to solve business problems. Prior experience utilizing Excel, SAS, Access, SQL, or a similar large database application is strongly desired.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: •Strong quantitative skills and the ability to apply statistical/data analysis techniques.•Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Access, SAS, SPSS, etc.•Accuracy and attention to detail.•Good communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.•Ability to interact with both internal clients and external clients (retailers).Education Required:•Bachelor's degree in business, statistics, operations research or other area with quantitative analysis focus, or related experience.•Preferred: Master's Degree in above disciplines
