  • Job Title: Senior Client Manager
  • Level & Responsibility: This role level sits between a Client / Account Manager and a Client Director level.
  • Salary: $93,600-$124,600, depending on experience, and a discretionary bonus.
  • Location & Hybrid Working: We have an office in New York for applicants to take advantage of and use to meet with the wider team and our clients, however this is not a requirement for the role and we welcome applicants from across North America.
The roleWe are looking for a Senior Client Manager to join our Threefold agency, reporting into the Partnership Director. In this role, you will be responsible for our initial consultancy engagements with retailers before evolving into leading the commercial and client output for a U.S. retail partnership, while continuing to develop the team and evolve processes to ensure continued growth.Why SMG?SMG is one of the most exciting growth companies in the North America today and is home to the award winning Retail Media Network agency Threefold.Founded in 2008, Threefold is the world's leading Retail Media Network (RMN) specialist, headquartered in both London and New York. We are looking for an experienced hire who can demonstrate clear industry knowledge and expertise. We are seeking someone with significant client-facing, commercial, and business leadership experience, likely from a marketing, retail media, CPG, media agency, sales, or retail tech background. Previous experience in planning and executing commerce media campaigns could be an advantage. More specifically, you'll have / be:
  • Omnichannel retail media experience.
  • Coaching and development of a high-performing and sizable team.
  • A proven track record in delivering business growth in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
  • Significant experience in a client or customer-facing role.
  • Strong commercial acumen, able to work seamlessly with data & financial reporting.
  • Flawless attitude at all times in all environments, with a strong will to succeed.
  • The ability to work with multiple senior stakeholders to deliver best-in-class client service, at all times.

However, here's an idea of what your responsibilities will look like:Business leadership:
  • You will be responsible for supporting and defining the direction of the team and setting the agenda for where they focus their time. You will constantly be seeking out ways to build our client base, growing revenue over time and ensuring we grasp every new business opportunity. You will also be focused on improving processes and the way we do business, enabling us to be more efficient.
Commercial leadership:
  • You will be responsible for the total level commercial management of the account, ensuring that a clear plan is in place to support the team with delivering against the internal and external targets. You will also play a key role in informing the annual budget so experience in commercial forecasting and P&L budget management are essential.
Team management:
  • You will lead a talented team of direct reports, who could range in level from Associate to Manager. Your responsibilities will span from creating and overseeing their work plans to conducting performance reviews and providing on-the-job coaching. It's crucial to regularly evaluate not only your direct reports' performance, but also their teams, structure, and resource levels to meet business needs. You'll address knowledge or skills gaps and ensure effective performance management across the account. Taking ownership, you'll ensure that agreed-upon focus and development plans are consistently pursued, progress is monitored, and your team is motivated and understands the value of their work. You will also play an active role in recruitment as your team grows.
Client management:
  • You'll assist the team in building best-in-class relationships with our clients, being ultimately responsible for delivering great client service that closes business and secures repeat business. In our business, we cater to two distinct sets of clients: our retailer partner and our branded clients. It's essential to consistently find solutions that satisfy the needs of both, even in challenging scenarios, while effectively managing relationships with various senior stakeholders. Understanding the business needs of both our partner and our clients is critical.
Campaign creation:
  • You will be responsible for ensuring fantastic quality of output from your team, building, and reviewing exciting campaigns together with our Campaign Team that embody our proposition of creative thinking and precision planning while also delivering great results for our clients.
Campaign analysis:
  • We have an in-house insight team who will evaluate every campaign we deliver via our proprietary software Plan-Apps. You will be responsible for ensuring the team is delivering these results to our clients in a timely manner while also taking learnings forward to inform future campaigns. You should be experienced in leading discussions on evaluation metrics including ROI, sales uplift, and impressions.
Cross-team collaboration and communication:
  • Your team will collaborate with others within the company. You'll be tasked with ensuring seamless collaboration with counterparts in different business areas, promoting effective communication, and ensuring the team functions cohesively as a unified entity.
