Job Description:

A top-rated global law firm is seeking a Senior Collections Specialist to oversee timely client collections within a supportive, collaborative environment. The role demands a highly organized, customer-focused professional with strong financial management skills who can maintain positive client relationships while ensuring timely collections. The Senior Collections Specialist is essential to the organization's financial operations and will work closely with partners, the billing team, and firm leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily collections operations, adhering to established procedures.
  • Manage the full collections cycle, from client outreach to payment plan negotiation and collection finalization.
  • Communicate with clients about overdue accounts, sending collection notices and reminders as needed.
  • Conduct account reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Prepare and analyze reports on collection statuses; regularly update partners, the Billing and Revenue Operations Director, and others.
  • Collaborate with the billing team to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate payment recording.
  • Assist attorneys with accounts receivable inquiries, promoting effective communication and problem-solving.
  • Work with team members to develop strategies to improve collections processes.
  • Coordinate with partners and finance staff to resolve billing or collection issues promptly.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of billing functions and cross-train as needed.
  • Undertake additional billing duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of collections experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services setting.
  • Strong understanding of legal billing and collection procedures.
  • Proficiency in Aderant or similar legal billing systems.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and adaptability to new technical systems.
