Job Summary The Senior Communications Specialist is a seasoned professional with a diverse communications background who is capable of taking primary responsibility for major projects and making and implementing strategic communications decisions with limited supervision. In this role, you will ensure all communications align with Purdue University's master brand.
Responsibilities: - Leading Center for Food Demand Analysis and Sustainability communications
- Working closely with Center leadership and serving as the Agricultural Communications' liaison with Agricultural Economics
- Working with the department's communications specialist and department head on writing, editing, producing social media and web content, generating promotional pieces and tracking and communicating status of projects
- Serving as the primary liaison for the Institute for Digital Forestry
- Working with the IDF leadership to develop and implement communication strategies to build reputation and demonstrate impact
- Managing communications for high profile projects and events
- Be an engaged and active storyteller with the knowledge and ability to use social media, web communications, media relations and print communications
What We're Looking For: - Bachelor's degree in English, Communications or another area which was supplemented with classes and/or internships in the area of communications
- 5 years of experience in communications positions that include demonstrated increase in responsibilities and accomplishments and diverse knowledge and practice of different elements of communications including storytelling, social media, web communications, media relations and print communications and proven ability in strategic communication planning and implementation
- Previous experience working with multimedia/graphic designers, photographers, videographers, writers and editors
- Excellent written and oral communications skills, proven organizational skills
