Senior Compliance Consultant

Come join Baker Tilly's Development & Community Advisory (DCA) team as a Senior Consultant! You will be a part of our DCA Development Advisory team where you will provide a variety of services including, but not limited to, energy and infrastructure advisory and project development support, economic development and capital planning support, and federal grant advisory with potential clients such as Tribes and Tribal Organizations, municipalities, non-profits, and other for-profit entities.

Position is located in Washington, D.C. (acceptable alternates Chicago, Illinois and Austin, Texas)

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate compliance requirements for federal assistance awards and programs and develop guidance for clients.
  • Evaluate client's capacity to perform compliance and reporting requirements through interviews and policy/procedure reviews, perform gap analysis.
  • Make recommendations for new and/or modified policies and procedures. Draft compliance guidance documents, processes, and reporting templates for clients.
  • Manage implementation of compliance and reporting processes, including but not limited to delivering trainings and related materials, supporting change management, recommending or performing quality control/quality assurance measures.
  • Perform regulatory research for energy and infrastructure projects and ad hoc requests.
  • Monitor and track program performance, deliverables, schedules, and milestones, ensuring alignment with the program's objectives and priorities.
  • Organize meetings, including tracking agendas, and providing updates to leadership.
  • Engage with external partners and stakeholders, local jurisdictions, 3rd party capital providers, external lenders, and marketing/outreach partners.
  • Coordinate with internal support teams including Program Operations, Finance, IT, and Marketing.
  • Ensure compliance with all contract and program requirements including applicable Federal and State-level financial, procurement, and reporting requirements.
  • Serve on client projects and assist in management of client relationships.
  • Document and analyze processes, internal controls, and workflow to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform research into best practices, operational policies, and organizational design.
  • Interview clients to better understand processes and to recommend improvements.
  • Assist in development of articles, sales proposals and presentations for new business development and client purposes.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in federal grant and loan administration or consulting.
  • A minimum of 2 plus years of project management experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in the energy industry (DOE or EPA grants or loans).
  • Demonstrated management, analytical, organization, interpersonal, project management, communication skills, and highly developed Microsoft Suite skills (Word, Excel, PPT) required.
  • Project Management Professional or Agile Project Management certifications preferred.
  • Experience with federal regulations including 2 CFR 200 and Title 17 funding requirements.
  • Ability to provide exceptional client service, demonstrate commitment to continuous learning to stay current regarding applicable strategies, see the big picture as well as the details, display appropriate ethical knowledge and commitment, and exhibit a sense of urgency and commitment to quality and the timely completion of duties.
  • Superb written and oral communication skills; long written deliverables will be required.
