We sit within the Legal organization and partner closely with company leadership and Engineering, Revenue, and Operations teams to surface business, legal, and reputational risks, and provide and drive implementation of solution sets for the business. We brainstorm, propose designs, develop roadmaps, steer cross-functional and multistakeholder collaboration, and operate strategic and tactical data compliance and privacy improvements - from finding and embedding efficiencies in our privacy documentation, to product safety frontend features in our platform product in parallel with backend review processes, to forward-thinking policy initiatives. The larger Legal organization are active supporters, but the Privacy team develops, organizes, and leads these efforts across the entire company. About the PositionFoursquare is looking for a Senior Compliance Manager, Data and Privacy, to join our team located in or near the following office hubs - New York City or Seattle. New York City is strongly preferred.As a key member of the Privacy Team, your work will be instrumental in upholding Foursquare's business ethics and product integrity, and will directly contribute to Foursquare's business success. You'll help to translate legal guidance into programs and processes, participate in the smart design and efficient implementation of practices across every organization in the company, and develop and provide subject-matter expertise to engineering and business teams. You'll report to Foursquare's Head of Privacy/Senior Counsel.In this role, you'll:
- Scope out and drive implementation of industry tools, such as privacy-enhancing technologies and other state law requirements, and best practices to operate and support them
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Marketing, Revenue, and Operations to audit, remediate, and monitor data and privacy compliance requirements both internally and with our suppliers
- Provide timely data and privacy compliance expertise across the company in the form of internal policy interpretation, guidance on customer relationship management, and actionable advice on operations
- Organize and maintain relevant company certifications, registrations, internal policies, and implementation standards
- Develop and activate a knowledge base and to respond to customer and other third-party audits and due diligence relating to data regulations and Foursquare's privacy practices
What you'll need:
- A growth mindset, eagerness to learn and try new things, and a strong interest in national security, privacy, AI/ML, and technology
- 4+ years of experience at a reputable management consulting firm
- 2+ years of experience in an operational role at a fast-paced, high-growth technology company
- Bachelor's Degree, ideally in Business Administration, Information Systems, Privacy Engineering, or other related field
- Comfort and familiarity in tracking and working with data, matrices (e.g. Google Sheets or Excel), Gantt charts, and other data-driven project management methodologies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Careful attention to detail, a bias for efficiency, and a love for simplicity

At Foursquare, we are committed to providing competitive pay and benefits that are in line with industry and market standards. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, and specific office location.The annual total cash compensation range is $125,000 - $150,000 however actual salaries can vary based on a candidate's qualifications, skills and competencies, as well as location.
