Position Overview: The Senior Construction Estimator is a critical role within our client's team, responsible for overseeing the estimating team and delivering accurate, competitive, and comprehensive project estimates. This position requires extensive expertise in commercial interior construction, with an emphasis on New York City projects. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in project management, team mentorship, and stakeholder relationship-building to ensure successful project execution. Compensation: Our client offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $120,000 to $180,000, commensurate with your experience, education, certifications, and skill set. This reflects a strong commitment to attracting top-tier talent for this pivotal role. Key Responsibilities:
  • Mentorship & Training
    • Lead, mentor, and develop junior estimators, ensuring accuracy and efficiency across the team.
  • Estimating
    • Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial interior projects, encompassing materials, labor, and equipment.
    • Analyze project specifications and drawings to define the project scope and estimate requirements.
  • Relationship Building
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients, fostering trust and collaboration.
  • Bid Coordination
    • Manage the bid process from start to finish, soliciting and evaluating subcontractor bids to ensure competitive and thorough estimates.
  • Project Management Support
    • Collaborate with project managers to provide ongoing cost analysis and support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Stay updated with industry trends, materials, and construction methods.
    • Implement best practices in estimating to continuously improve processes and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in commercial interiors general contracting estimating within New York City.
    • Proven experience in leading and mentoring a team of estimators.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
    • Proficiency in estimating software and tools.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
