The role involves direct interaction with customers and leading a team of engineers to identify requirements, develop specifications, and implement/test/commission/qualify automation solutions. This leadership position demands strong problem-solving abilities, well-balanced people skills, business efficiency aptitude, and an interest in creating partnerships. Success is measured by securing repeat work with both new and existing customers.Responsibilities:
  • Deliver innovative automation solutions and design standards independently or as a team leader.
  • Conceptualize, detail, and implement control systems for industrial processes and machinery.
  • Develop control system architecture, select components, detail schematic diagrams, and system documentation.
  • Program controllers (PLC, DCS/Delta V) and process visualization (HMI/SCADA).
  • Develop databases for archiving/displaying historical system data.
  • Implement and commission control systems at client facilities.
  • Utilize controller programming languages (Ladder, Sequential Function Chart, Structured Text) and standard programming languages (VBA, .NET, SQL, Python).
  • Design, detail, and implement industrial networking systems using protocols like Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus.
  • Manage project responsibilities, including developing execution plans, work breakdown structures, budgets, scheduling, time tracking, financial tracking, problem identification, conflict resolution, team leadership, and attending project status meetings.
  • Oversee daily operations and activities of projects up to $10M, ensuring project profitability.
  • Act as a technical lead and guide lower-level engineers and technicians, potentially managing smaller projects.
Travel:
  • Up to 25%, mostly local to Dallas.
Working Environment:
  • Standard office environment, on-site office environment, diverse industrial environments, frequent use of a personal computer, fax/copy machines, and phones.
RequirementsEducation:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
  • Over 8 years of experience preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of Emerson DeltaV platform.
  • Experience in PLC-5 to ControlLogix conversions.
  • Knowledge of PLC platforms (Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Modicon) and HMI/SCADA platforms (Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk and Plant Pax, Aveva System Platform and Edge, Inductive Automation Ignition, GE iFIX, Siemens Winn CC and TI Portal).
  • Understanding of DCS platforms like Emerson DeltaV or similar.
  • Project Management experience with PMP certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Batch/Recipes, OEE, MES, and ERP systems.
  • Industry experience in Semiconductor, Life Sciences, Building Automation, Food and Beverage, Water Treatment, and general manufacturing.
  • Electrical schematic and control panel design, including power distribution under 480VAC and NEC references.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • Experience leading and mentoring a team of engineers/technicians.
  • References: Professional references, preferably one from each of the following: a subordinate, a peer, and a manager.
