Job Description:
This position is focused on performing accounting, tax and financial reporting for McLanahan Corporation group of companies. This includes ensuring internal controls; accounting policy and procedures; and analysis are maintained and applied to facilitate timely and accurate consolidated financial and tax reporting that maintains compliance with local statutory regulations and that management may rely upon to make strategic business decisions.Essential Functions/Key Accountabilities:
  • Follow direction provided by the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to, and enforcing, all safety procedures and policies inside and outside the facility, including use of personal protective and McLanahan equipment as required.
  • Represent McLanahan Corporation in a positive manner both internally and externally (customers, trade shows, conferences, etc.) while adhering to the organization's core values.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with co-workers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant accounting standards.
  • Stay current with accounting standards and tax regulations for overall reporting compliance.
  • Perform account reconciliations, prepare journal entries and calculate month-end accruals.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Implement best practices, automation and process improvements for more efficient and accurate financial reporting and analysis.
  • Month-end close and consolidation activities including preparation of consolidation adjustments, monitoring intercompany transactions and other balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with subsidiary accounting departments ensuring timely and accurate group financial reporting and adherence to corporate guidance and deadlines.
  • Assist with preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial reports including balance sheet, income statements and cash flow statements.
  • Analyze financial company and business unit financial results and prepare related management reports.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining internal control process, procedures and documentation.
  • Assist with federal, local and state tax return filings, research and compliance.
  • Work closely with third party professional service providers including accounting; audit, tax, and other consulting firms.
  • Coordination of external audits and other similar type engagements.
Education/Qualifications/Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, Tax or related field or other equivalent training.
  • 5+ years of experience in finance/accounting or tax, preferably within a multi-company environment.
  • CPA certification preferred but not required.
Competencies/ Knowledge/Attributes:
  • Computer literacy including MS Office applications (advanced Excel skills)
  • Experience with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems (preferably EPICOR) including consolidation reporting tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Multi-lingual preferred.
  • Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and able to prioritize tasks
