ERG is looking for a senior corporate health & safety specialist to provide H&S leadership across the company. The individual will bring working knowledge and a deep understanding of H&S processes and implementation practices to streamline and improve existing corporate H&S processes across different practice areas in the organization. The individual will have the responsibility and knowledge necessary to develop and implement site-specific Health & Safety plans at various complex project sites, including client sites, field sites, and laboratory-based sites. This role will be based in the Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. This role may require travel up to 5-10% of the time, with occasional visits to clients, fields, and laboratories to conduct audits and safety evaluations. Prior experience working with the EPA is a plus. Job Description:
- Develop and refine corporate-level health & safety management systems, plans, and procedures
- Develop, implement, and validate program and project-level health & safety management systems, plans, and procedures
- Design tools and mechanisms to streamline, refine, and document corporate H&S practices across the company
- Provide H&S input for client sites, field-focused and laboratory-based programs
- Participate in the planning and development of H&S documents related to proposals
- Provide technical assistance on safety-related compliance projects; safety management system development and implementation; safety oversight, industrial hygiene monitoring; and safety auditing
- Conduct training, field coaching, and assessment for safety performance improvement projects
- Develop annual safety training programs and refreshers for client sites, field-focused and laboratory-based programs
- Provide on-site H&S compliance support at client facilities
- Act as the subject matter expert (SME) on site for Health, Safety, & Environmental issues and provide guidance to all managers and staff
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental, safety, occupational health, or related fields
- 25+ years of experience in corporate health & safety positions, including a minimum of 20 years of experience in onsite and/or field health & safety leadership roles
- Prior experience in working with the EPA in supporting health & safety practices
- Significant expertise in EPA's health and safety systems, including a thorough understanding of the EPA's Safety, Health and Environmental Management (SHEM) policies and implementation
- Capability to pass background checks and initial and random drug screening
- Experience with writing technical documents. -Strong organizational and communication skills.
