About this role:Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Counsel in Legal as part of the Bank and Fraud Operations Section in the Consumer, Small & Business Banking (CSBB) Division of the Legal Department. For additional information on this line of business, refer to the external Careers Site at Wellsfargo.com/career.In this role, you will:Lead or participate in moderately complex initiatives and deliverables and contribute to large-scale planningProvide legal advice and represent of the Company in highly complex litigation, negotiations, settlement discussions, and claims related legal issuesReview and analyze moderately complex challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of variable factorsManage highly complex claims and litigationProvide guidance to internal clients on legal matters to assist with legal risk assessment, planning and policy decisions, claims against the Company, probability of loss, and develop cost-effective risk mitigation strategiesDraft complex legal documents, review and negotiate documents prepared by outside counselIndependently resolve moderately complex issues and lead team to meet deliverablesIdentify and analyze complex legal issues, develop conclusions, and make recommendations for issue resolutionDevelop the strategic direction for certain claims functions and management of related policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate riskEducate, train, and supervise less experienced attorneys within the Legal departmentCollaborate with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve issues and achieve goalsLead projects, teams, or serve as a mentor for less experienced staffWork directly with business clients and develop an in depth understanding of business unit activities and productsPartner with business leaders and management of other corporate departments to develop and implement risk management programsRequired Qualifications:4+ years of Law experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, educationActive State Bar membership or the equivalent in a country outside the United StatesDesired Qualifications:Experience as a practicing attorney in private practice and/or a financial services in-house legal department.Expertise in following practice areas: trusts & estates; garnishments, writs & levies; unclaimed property/escheat; business formation, ownership disputes, & receiverships; and deposit account, check & payments issues (adjustments, adverse claims, returns, settlements).Expertise in the following legal framework and network rules: UCC Articles 3, 4, 4A, & 9; Reg. E, Reg. J, Reg. CC, Reg. DD, Federal Reserve Operating Circulars, ECCHO Operating Rules, and Nacha Operating Rules.Expertise in consumer financial regulatory exams or enforcement matters, litigation background in consumer or business banking deposit matters, or commercial or consumer workout/collections background.Pay RangeReflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location.
