Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Utilities Supervisor. - Assigns, supervises and participates in the work of unskilled and semi-skilled workers and equipment operators in the repair and maintenance of sewer and water facilities and other municipal facilities; makes and adjusts work assignments as necessary.
- Repairs and/or replaces fire hydrants.
- Discusses job requirements and receives detailed instructions from supervisor.
- Inspects work in progress; ensures work conforms with instructions and safety requirements.
- Requisitions necessary equipment and materials; maintains time and material records.
- Trains and instructs employees.
- Prepares simple work reports.
- Performs annual performance evaluations for personnel within the team.
- Assists supervision with interviews and performance management.
- Sets up traffic control at job sites in accordance with NCDOT standards.
- Completes a pre-trip inspection of equipment and vehicles.
