Within our organization, the Dangerous Goods (DG) department oversees the DG documentation and approval process for export DG shipments. Specifically, we ensure all required DG documentation is received to obtain vessel and port approvals for the transportation of DG cargo. Other responsibilities include technical review, understanding of regulations, ensure regulatory compliance, data entry, coordination with internal and external parties for DG approval, customer communication regarding DG approval status and technical inquiries.

Qualified Candidates:
* Knowledge of IMDG regulations in addition to hazardous regulatory requirements
* Customer focused, self-motivated, issue resolving master!
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* MS Office (Outlook, Excel and Word, SharePoint)
* Industry knowledge of shipping/container industry
Preferred skills:
* Work effectively under quick deadlines in a fast moving and collaborative team environment
* Detail oriented, excellent organizational skills, and ability to multi-task with flexible attitude to adapt to swiftly changing priorities
* Current Dangerous Goods certificate is preferred- 49 CFR Transportation of Dangerous Goods (DOT) and/or IMDG Code
What the Senior Dangerous Goods Specialist does:
* Monitor dangerous goods bookings for regulatory compliance
* Perform restricted commodity approval processing including vessel operator acceptance
* Manage and interpret commodity vs MSDS requirements. Provide direction to the rest of the team on application regarding regulations
* Assist DG Assistant Manager/Manager in handling of DG incidents and service failures and provide suggestions for future to avoid reoccurrence of incidents
* Act as key contact party for the group mailbox NAGDG to provide direction on proper handling and follow-up
* Formulate user requirements for OOCL DG system applications. Maintain NAG DG website and publish updates to processes and procedures
