SeniorData Engineer, General Reinsurance Corporation, Stamford, CTRole Description Responsible for managing ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) process byextracting, organizing, and analyzing pricing data (or other data wrangled intouse for pricing or diagnostics). Supporting, revising (possibly re-building atsome point), optimizing and maintaining pricing models for all our CommercialInsurance Liability (including some reinsurance) business. Building reports about P&Cbooks of business from diverse databases such as legacy systems, modernplatforms, vendor platforms and C:/drives. Leveraging internal and externaldata sources to engineer novel features to enhance risk segmentation forpricing or data analytics. Measuring and monitoring product, producer, andunderwriter performance. Engaging in the evolution of data analytics based onthe strategic objective of being a data-oriented and analytics-driven company.Preparing actuarial pricing studies for all segments. Telecommuting permitted up to 3 days a week. Full time employment, Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week, $183,955.00per year. Role Qualifications and Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or arelated field, and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate related workexperience. OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or arelated field, and 3 years of related work experience. Of the required experience, must have 2 years of experience in each of thefollowing:
- Using R or Python to extract, transform, and load of internal and external data sources applied to structured and unstructured data;
- SQL, SQL Server, and Database Management;
- Utilizing Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) for Excel and Access;
- Utilizing classical statistics toward data analytics;
- Utilizing modern approaches toward data analytics, including Boosting in machine learning; and
- Creating reports summarizing financial and activity for management review.
