Job Summary: The Sr. DBA role is largely responsible for providing operational database services to the organization. Some of the primary responsibilities of this role would include owning, tracking, and resolving database related incidents and requests; fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLAs; reviewing service related reports (e.g., database backups, maintenance, monitoring) on a daily basis to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs; responding to database related alerts and escalations; and working with database engineering to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems.
Responsibilities: - Manage efficient operations of production, QA, and development database environments.
- Oversee design and implementation across production, QA, and development environments.
- Ensure replication of data and schema between production, QA, and development database environments.
- Manage version control of all database code.
- Oversee the development, testing, and implementation of Reporting Services reports.
- Ensure adherence to database code promotion across environments.
- Troubleshoot database scheduled jobs and resolve issues.
- Identify and resolve contention and bottlenecks at the database layer.
- Manage capacity planning, index maintenance, and future table partitioning schema implementation.
- Assist in testing, performance tuning, and optimization of stored procedures.
- Provide overlap assistance troubleshooting portal issues from a programmatic standpoint (e.g., C#, HTML, TSQL).
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree
- 5+ years of experience as a database administrator managing complex database environments.
- Strong knowledge of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
- Hands-on experience with SQL Server, including backup, restore, performance tuning, and optimization.
- Experience in version control systems, schema management, and data replication between environments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across database and application layers.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
Desired Qualifications - Professional certifications such as MCDBA or MCITP-Database.
- 4 to 8 years of experience as a DBA.
- Experience with Reporting Services and stored procedure optimization.
- Familiarity with C#, HTML, and T-SQL for programmatic troubleshooting.
- Advanced experience with capacity planning, table partitioning, and index maintenance.
- Experience with cloud database environments (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL).
