ABOUT THE JOBThe ACLU seeks applicants for the full-time position of Senior Digital Organizing Strategist in the National Political Advocacy Department of the ACLU's National office in Washington, DC or New York, NY. This is a hybrid role that has in-office requirements of two (2) days per week or eight (8) days per month. The National Political Advocacy Department (NPAD) works to strengthen the efforts of the ACLU at the federal, state, and local levels of government. The department harnesses the political power that comes from having more than eleven million members and supporters, as well as affiliates in every state. Through grassroots organizing, lobbying and policy work, and issue campaigns, the ACLU seeks to achieve profound change in the legislative, administrative and electoral arenas.WHAT YOU'LL DOThe Senior Digital Organizing Strategist will report to the Deputy Organizing Director.YOUR DAY TO DAY
  • Operate core systems and carry out key tasks in support of organizing-based strategies and tactics throughout NPAD, across a multi-issue spectrum of civil liberties and civil rights subject matter areas
  • Maintain ACLU-style and consistent language framework across emails, text and call scripts, landing pages, and other common organizing modalities Manage ACLU People Power's EveryAction CRM, and the various functionalities incorporated within the system
  • Oversee CRM and other Organizing tools data quality assurance matters and recommend solutions for resolving data quality concerns, performance issues, and end-user problems
  • In coordination with Deputy Organizing Directors, stay abreast of ACLU security and privacy policies, and assist in evaluating the security and privacy capabilities of potential third-party applications
  • Manage ACLU People Power email program to produce emails to effectively mobilize and recruit volunteers, in support of priority NPAD campaigns and other programming
  • Handle operation of email calendar, manage schedules and help ensure that high priority campaigns/programs can secure access to the email platform, helping Organizing Advisors and Organizing Strategists meet their campaign objectives
  • Perform A/B testing for outgoing emails to test performance and trends
  • Maintain consistent awareness of adjustments that must be made within key organizing systems (e.g. email suppressions, state-specific exclusions, etc.)
  • Oversee permanent, non-campaign specific volunteer teams (such as the call team and text team).
  • Propose and implement the creation of new permanent, non-campaign-specific volunteer teams and systems that address the strategic and programmatic needs of ACLU campaigns.
  • Help troubleshoot the operation of organizing tools (e.g. click to call tools, connector lines, dialers, People Power helpdesk, etc.) that are fundamental to volunteer teams and organizing strategies. Specific current tools include, but are not limited to, ThruText, ThruTalk, etc.
  • Administer all People Power Power social media accounts, and ensure up to date content is posted and managed
  • Integrate other digital tools and platforms utilized for organizing advocacy into EveryAction
  • Measure and report trends and performance of volunteers and volunteer actions within EveryAction

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • Knowledge of the EveryAction CRM
  • Experience with A/B testing
  • Significant experience with issue/electoral digital organizing management
  • Good in statistical analysis and research
  • Ability to work largely independently as well as within a team
  • Ability to project manage effectively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, simultaneously handle many tasks; work efficiently, meeting multiple deadlines, while remaining composed under pressure
  • Ability to assess the needs and propose recommendations for resources to support campaign initiatives
  • Strong communications skills in order to convey complex concepts, research and analysis in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to provide geopolitical expertise and ability to conduct strategic/political studies and assessments for the application of strategies and tactics
COMPENSATIONThe ACLU values equity, transparency, and clarity in pay. Consistent with the ACLU's compensation philosophy there is a set salary for this role. The ACLU also has a locality adjustment policy that applies to salaries. The annual salary for this position is $128,778 (Level F), reflecting the salary of a position based in New York, NY. This position is subject to a hybrid schedule of 2 days/week or 8 days/month in-office.
