Position Overview Global Citizen seeks a self-motivated individual with a proven track record of stewarding long-term relationships and securing new financial commitments to be a Senior Director of Business Development. The primary role is to prospect and close new corporate partnerships for Global Citizen. The successful candidate will have demonstrated sales success and organizational skills to manage complex projects. Strong independent sales pitch and communication skills are required for success in the role. Typical partner deliverables include events, broadcasts, co-branded Global Citizen action journeys (content, actions, rewards), digital, marketing, employee engagement, and thought leadership. The candidate will have experience working in a fast paced environment selling complex projects and partnerships with corporate brands. You will interact with most teams within Global Citizen including Policy, PR, Marketing, Editorial, Digital, Talent, Legal, and Production, as well as with the Office of the CEO. Global Citizen's work moves fast and can change based on campaign goals and world needs, so this candidate will have demonstrated working in ever changing and entrepreneurial environments, while meeting crucial deadlines. The candidate needs to be able to create solutions to evolving organizational, campaign, and partner needs. Key Responsibilities
  • Prospecting, Pitching and Sales (85%)
    • Provide leadership within partnerships group to drive incremental revenue and reach
    • Create compelling presentations, sales materials and proposals that appropriately represent Global Citizen's multiple assets and opportunities across custom content, thought leadership, employee engagement, campaigns, and events
    • Leverage industry expertise, market trends and deep knowledge of prospects' needs to generate new revenue
    • Drive measurable sales results in a fast paced, resource-conscious environment with a creative style and a strong vision
    • Support with in-kind sales for Global Citizen festivals and events
  • Support Partner and Campaign Management (10%)
    • High touch relationship management with partners, including with C-suite executives, across complex work streams including: Policy, Marketing, Content, Rewards, Legal, Talent and externally with CSR, Policy, Media, and Marketing teams
    • During the sales process of a new partnership, the Senior Director will work with the Global Corporate Partnerships team to prepare project delivery timelines
    • Synthesize and clearly communicate Global Citizen key projects externally
    • Support in providing regular updates and reports to colleagues and partners, including impact reports at the end of each campaign.
  • Strategic Oversight and Impact of Partners and Global Corporate Partnerships Team (5%)
    • Work together with the Chief Revenue Officer, Vice President and Directors on the Global Corporate Partnerships and Business Development teams to develop the organization's full year partnerships strategy
    • Support in developing and building processes and tools to support the delivery of new partnership revenue across the organization
  • Requirements for Success Education and Experience
    • The Senior Director of Business Development position requires a bachelor's degree and a minimum 10+ years of sales/business development experience.
    • Experience in selling lucrative corporate partnerships/sponsorships within an agency or non-profit environment
    Other Skills and Qualifications
    • Ability to network, collaborate, persuade, and speak publicly in a compelling way
    • Strong writing skills
    • Ability to manage change
    • Extremely well organized with an understanding of building relationships, sales pipelines and prospecting tools.
    • Ability to identify problems and solve them
    • Professional manner and experience dealing with senior-level client interactions
    • Knowledge of Google Suite, Slack, Webex and Keynote
    • Team leadership - Exhibit flexibility and the ability to manage change across the team
    • Team player and a positive, can-do attitude
    • Ability to show initiative and work with limited supervision
    • Maintain a commitment to eradicating extreme poverty

    • Must be authorized for employment in USA
    • Global Citizen operates on a hybrid work model - 3 days (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) in our NYC office and 2 days (Monday & Friday) telecommuting.

    • Salary Range: $140,000-150,000
