Department Summary HSC Institutional Advancement seeks to advance HSC's mission to create solutions for a healthier community. Through fund development, community education and alumni relations, our goal is to build meaningful relationships that expand opportunities for our students, faculty and programs in ways that transform countless lives. Position Overview The Senior Director of Development for HSC's new College of Nursing as we begin to build out the organizational structure for Institutional Advancement to support a significant increase in overall fundraising for HSC. This position will oversee all development and alumni engagement activities for some of HSC's highest potential constituencies. The Senior Director of Development will also play an integral role on the Dean's leadership team advocating for external support for the college's priorities. Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and seven (7) years related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of philanthropy and fundraising principles.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships with internal and external constituents.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a portfolio of major gift prospects and closing gifts at $25,000 level or higher.
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop and execute strategies.
  • Ability to mentor and coach colleagues or direct reports.
  • Ability to manage time, personnel, financial, and physical resources effectively.
  • Exceptional communications skills.
  • Ability to master University policies and procedures and apply these in specific situations.
Preferred Qualifications N/A Required License/Registration/Certifications N/A Job Duties:
  • Coordinates and/or manages special alumni/donor activities and events for the College. Serves as the primary liaison between the College and Institutional Advancement.
  • Prepares written development materials, including case statements, proposals, and fundraising initiative/campaign related materials for assigned college, school, and/or program(s). Manages a pool of major gift donors with a goal of raising at least 1 million per year.
  • Leads the strategic planning and implementation of a comprehensive development plan for the college, school, or unit. Manages and implements strategies and activities for identifying and qualifying, soliciting, cultivating and stewarding major gift prospects and donors. Translates goals into specific objectives, utilizing the most effective fundraising techniques to achieve each goal (i.e., annual fund, major gifts, etc.).
  • Maintains timely contact reports, prospect plans, and solicitations within the data tracking system. Works effectively with stakeholders for proposal development by providing leads, research assistance, and proposal writing and submission assistance.
