It is not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified.JOB SUMMARY Senior Director, Digital Engagement to spearhead our efforts in building strong connections and fostering engagement with our alumni community through strategic digital initiatives. The Senior Director will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive digital engagement strategy that delivers valuable content, services, and opportunities to alumni, fosters lifelong engagement and helps alumni remain connected to their alma mater, ensuring a mutually beneficial connection.In addition, the Senior Director will oversee the growth and enhancement of career strategies for alumni, with a particular focus on leveraging the expanding global network of Northeastern University as it continues to grow. This position reports directly to the Executive Director, Alumni Relations and will manage a team of five, including two direct reports.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge and skills required for this position are normally obtained through a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 7 years of experience in digital engagement, marketing, alumni relations, or related fields, with 3+ years in a leadership or managerial role; a master's degree is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and executing successful digital engagement strategies, preferably in a higher education or nonprofit environment.
- Strong understanding of digital engagement tools, content creation, data analytics and emerging trends.
- Experience in managing career development programs or services.
- Proven ability to interact with many constituencies, while building strong relationships and partnerships, with a strong emphasis on customer service.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Ability to be adaptable and flexible to changing priorities and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and changeable workplace.
- Proven ability to manage and mentor a team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a keen attention to detail and a high level of self-confidence, creativity, enthusiasm, self-motivation, and energy to undertake diverse responsibilities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES Strategic Planning
- Lead the creation, execution, and ongoing enhancement of a comprehensive digital engagement strategy that strengthens alumni connections to Northeastern University.
- Develop innovative content strategies to engage diverse alumni segments, fostering a sense of community and pride among alumni.
- Utilize data-driven insights and analytics to identify opportunities for personalized engagement and measure the effectiveness of digital initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across the university to ensure alignment with broader engagement strategies and institutional goals. Programmatic Oversight and Growth
- Curate, develop, and deliver value-added digital content that resonates with alumni, ranging from professional development resources and networking opportunities to university news and updates.
- Collaborate on the creation of multimedia content, including videos, podcasts, webinars, and social media campaigns, to foster meaningful interactions and increase alumni involvement.
- Lead the development and implementation of a robust career strategy that supports alumni at various career stages, from early career professionals to senior executives.
- Build partnerships with industry leaders, alumni professionals, and career services to offer relevant and impactful programs, workshops, and resources. Data Management and Analytics
- Utilize data analytics to monitor alumni engagement trends, program success, and areas for improvement.
- Develop reports and dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to digital engagement, content consumption, and career program participation.
- Make data-informed decisions to optimize strategies and enhance the overall alumni experience. Leadership Development and Staff Management
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of two direct reports and three additional team members, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and results-driven work environment.
- Set clear goals, expectations, and performance metrics for the team, ensuring alignment with the overall alumni relations strategy and division objectives.
