Senior Director, Events and Expositions

Summary

American Coatings Association (ACA) seeks a Senior Director, Events and Expositions to join our team. This position will be responsible for the planning and execution of programs and events for theassociation, requiring collaboration with all ACA's departments and subsidiaries.

About ACA

ACA is a voluntary, nonprofit organization working to advance the needs of the paint and coatings industry and the professionals who work in it. Through advocacy of the industry and its positions on legislative, regulatory, and judicial issues at the federal, state, and local levels, it acts as an effective ally ensuring that the industry is represented and fairly considered.

Responsibilities

  • Travel required.
  • Ongoing oversight and management of all Events staff.
  • Site selection for American Coatings Show (ACS) and Conference (ACC), Executive level meetings, and special events.
  • Contract review/negotiation and signing of all ACA and ACS agreements.
  • Budget development and tracking for all large meetings and events, including ACS and ACC.
  • Develop sponsorship opportunities for ACS and ACC.
  • Review and approve vendor invoices to ensure services are uninterrupted.
  • Negotiate, sign, and work with housing vendor to ensure good housing options for the ACS.
  • Hire all ACS and ACC vendors to include AV, housing, registration, show decorator, security, catering, staffing, etc.
  • Work closely with the Communications Department on the booth design and promotional materials for all events including ACS, ACC, and European Coatings Show (ECS).
  • Work closely with ACA's partner on the planning of ACS and ACC.
  • Secure event's insurance for ACA meetings and the ACS.
  • Provide updates and reports to ACA President and Senior VP as necessary.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • 10+ years of trade show management experience.
  • 10+ years of event planning experience.
  • Must have experience leading and managing a team of Event professionals.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • History of strong people skills and the ability to work with multiple vendors.
  • Association meeting planning/trade show experience a plus.

Location and Travel

This position is located at ACA headquarters in Washington, DC, and will operate within a hybrid work environment (working both onsite and remotely). This position will be expected to travel for work events a few times per year within the US.

Employment, Salary and Benefits

This is a full-time, regular position. Salary is dependent on experience, but on estimate can range from $120,000 to $140,000.
