The Director, Audit Services is accountable for the delivery of high quality, professional, cost-effective, value-added and risk-based internal audit services for Insurance-related business functions in North America. The individual establishes and maintains appropriate communications with audit and business management regarding the audit activities assigned. The Director also organizes and assigns audit staff to planned work, oversees follow up on outstanding audit issues, assists with audit committee reporting, and ensures the ongoing professional development of assigned staff.
Position Responsibilities:
Build effective relationships with Audit and Advisory Services (AAS) and business management in assigned areas.Plan, direct and control the annual audit plan for assigned areas, reporting to the AAS senior management on plan progress and any needed revisions.Schedule/assign audit projects to audit staff in a coordinated effort with other managers to maximize the utilization of resources, further the development of staff, and provide the optimal assurance for the risks covered.Monitor progress of individual assignments reporting any timing or budget variances to AAS senior management and coordinate work required to support external auditors.Review completed files to ensure quality of work completed, quality of audit issues and recommendations, and adherence to Audit Services methodology and IIA standards.Present audit findings and recommendations to senior Segment and Functional management; ensure quality of written reports are of the highest professional standards.Assist business unit management by providing risk management consulting support through recommendations or audit consulting engagements.Provide feedback to staff reporting to this position through regular performance appraisals and work with staff to ensure appropriate development and training is provided.Effectively collaborate with peers in Audit and Advisory Services and the business to support continuous improvement of the Audit function.Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years of progressive work experience, including 4 years at a management level preferred.Good working knowledge of controls and risk management within the financial services industry, particularly within Life Insurance will be an advantage.Knowledge and understanding of control frameworks, risk management practices, and regulatory requirements.Experience in using data analytics to improve audit coverage and efficiency of audit processes.Preferred Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work with and influence management at various levels of the organization.Ability to balance multiple priorities and projects, and meet deadlines.Ability to work independently and direct the work and development of others.Good understanding of technology and its impact on business risks.When you join our team:
