The Difference You'll Make

  • Delphia is seeking a Senior Director, Medicinal Chemistry with a strong background in drug discovery to collaborate cross-functionally on teams to drive programs from discovery through to development. In this role, the Senior Director, Medicinal Chemistry will define and implement medicinal chemistry strategies, ensure scientific and operational excellence with internal and external CRO teams, and integrate input from various disciplines to advance our pipeline of innovative therapies.

What You'll Do:

  • Serve as the overall medicinal chemistry leader for assigned programs, driving the strategy and execution from discovery to development milestones.
  • Apply deep knowledge of synthetic and medicinal chemistry, ADME / PK principles, and lead optimization to design and optimize high quality compounds to guide program direction.
  • Collaborate with scientific leads to address critical path challenges and identify opportunities for innovation to design key experiments and drive program strategy.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including biology, pharmacology, and pre-clinical development to achieve program goals.
  • Develop program strategies that incorporate risk mitigation.
  • Translate complex scientific data into actionable insights for decision-making.
  • Foster collaboration across internal and external stakeholders, including CROs and academic partners.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for program updates, communicating progress and challenges to key stakeholders.
  • Lead the preparation of patent applications in collaboration with IP partners.

What you bring:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field with 10+ years of industry experience, including leadership in drug discovery or development programs.
  • Proven track record of advancing small molecule programs from lead identification to IND or beyond.
  • Strong project management skills and experience influencing cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced biotech environment preferred.
