In this position, the Senior Director of Accounting will interface with cross-functional peers and managers and have an opportunity to contribute across various business challenges. This position will manage the timely and accurate creation of financial reports, oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, monitor financial internal control environment and take a leadership role to drive efficiencies across the cooperative. In addition, the Senior Director of Accounting will be the primary role overseeing the preparation and execution of all external financial statement and internal audits and services. Essential Duties and Responsibilitieso Provides transactional guidance and leadership to the following areas: - Accounts Receivable: Billing, Cash Application and Deductions - Accounts Payable - General Ledger - Business Tax - Fixed Assets - Physical Inventory Custodian - Costing - Subsidiary Accounting o Manages the improvement and reporting of key financial performance indicators (i.e. days sales outstanding, days on hand inventory, etc.)o Ensures timely and accurate publishing of monthly and annual consolidated financial statements that comply with GAAPo Maintains responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger of all consolidated entities utilizing reconciliations and reviews. Including review of assigned schedules and reconciliations prepared by staff and other accounting personnel to meet internal and external audit requirements. o Oversees the timely and accurate reporting of business tax-related matters including and not limited to, 1099 reporting, property tax returns, and general state and local business tax returnso Leads the day-to-day oversight for the external and internal audit service providerso Maintains compliance with internal control procedures, including assistance with enterprise risk management activitieso Oversees implementation of new or updated accounting standards o Focuses efforts to improve business processes and creating efficiencies that support cooperative growth initiatives, including engaging in cross-departmental solutionso Collaborates with financial planning & analysis team to inform budgeting and forecasting processeso Assist with preparation and leadership of all audit committee meetingso Assists with preparation for monthly and quarterly review meetings with management, board of director presentations, bank communications, etc.o Communicate expectations by evaluating performance, providing timely feedback, training and coaching, and recommending personnel actions for assigned staff.o Ensure compliance with policies, safety procedures, and fair employment practices.o Handles confidential information with discretion.Additional Duties and Responsibilitieso Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilitieso Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and five-plus years of demonstrated experience in a similar financial role.o Credentials of a CPA, required. o Public accounting experience is preferred.o Practical accounting knowledge and skills including knowledge of GAAP is required.o Background in manufacturing as it relates to costing is required, dairy costing is preferred. o Demonstrated experience leading an accounting department.o Must be well organized, detail oriented, and accurate.o Must have demonstrated ability to successfully manage projects, including external and internal audit services.o Must have demonstrated software proficiencies in Microsoft Office Suite. SAP experience is a plus.o Knowledge of retail food industry and/or dairy is preferred, but not required.o Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to active listen, problem solve, and communicate well with other departments is required.o Must be able to handle a diverse workload, frequent interruptions, multiple tasks and deadlines as well as doing projects for multiple people.o Demonstrate the ability to remain current on all new emerging trends and relevant changes that impact accounting, financial reporting, regulation and other compliance issues.o Ability to manage, adapt and promote change.Base salary wage range: $144,000 - $196,680 per yearThis salary wage rangeis exclusive of fringe benefits. The compensation package may also includeincentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary bonuses. Ifyou are hired at CROPP, your final base salary wage compensation will be determinedbased on factors such as skills, education, and/orexperience. Additionally, we believe in the importance of pay equity andconsider the internal equity of our current team members as a part of any finaloffer.
