Responsibilities The Senior Director of Business Development at New York Blood Center Enterprises will be responsible for owning and driving the sales function for the Cell and Gene Therapy Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) services. As the primary customer-facing representative, the Senior Director will strategically promote and drive the adoption of Comprehensive Cell Solutions (CCS) services, and lead efforts to acquire development and manufacturing contracts. The Senior Director will collaborate closely with a team of operational and technical experts, managing relationships with prospective and existing clients to ensure successful project onboarding and continued client satisfaction. This individual will also play a key role in identifying new business opportunities, crafting compelling proposals, and negotiating contracts with potential clients. The Senior Director will focus on fostering long-term client relationships, supporting the companys growth goals, and ensuring a seamless transition from sales to service delivery. This role requires a deep understanding of the cell and gene therapy space, the CDMO market, and client needs, along with the ability to execute a high-touch, customer-focused sales process. Strategic Business Development & Opportunity Identification: Lead business development efforts to identify and develop new business opportunities, expanding CCS's footprint in the cell and gene therapy CDMO sector. Actively prospect, qualify leads, and manage the sales funnel from initial contact through to the close of deals. Utilize market research tools, industry intelligence, and personal networks to identify high-potential clients and key decision-makers. Develop and implement strategies to target and attract new clients within defined market segments. Client Acquisition & Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients and key decision-makers, ensuring CCS becomes the trusted partner for cell and gene therapy services. Own the customer journey from initial engagement, proposal creation, contract negotiation, to the successful onboarding of new projects. Focus on client retention by delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining ongoing communication post-sale to ensure customer satisfaction. Sales Process & Proposal Development: Lead and coordinate the creation of customized proposals and Scopes of Work (SOW) in collaboration with internal subject matter experts (SMEs). Develop sales presentations and materials tailored to client needs, showcasing the full range of CCS services. Negotiate contracts and pricing terms with clients to secure favorable agreements that align with business objectives. Market Intelligence & Collaboration with Marketing: Partner with the Marketing team to refine targeting strategies, develop campaigns, and raise awareness of CCS services to generate new business opportunities. Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to pipeline growth, client acquisition, and revenue generation utilizing Salesforce, CRM systems, and other digital tools. Share insights and collaborate with internal teams to ensure that business development strategies align with company goals and market trends. Industry Representation & Networking: Represent CCS at key industry conferences, speaking engagements, and networking events to raise visibility, generate new leads, and build relationships with potential clients. Participate in booth exhibitions, host promotional events, and schedule partnering meetings to create opportunities for client engagement and business development. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate closely with technical, operational, and project management teams to ensure smooth handoffs and alignment between the sales process and service delivery. Work in concert with SMEs to deliver technical support during proposal and sales stages, and ensure that the companys capabilities are clearly communicated to prospective clients. Reporting & Performance Tracking: Track sales activities, customer interactions, and project status through CRM systems and project management software. Provide regular updates and detailed reports to senior management on progress toward meeting sales goals, including forecasting and pipeline management. Client Satisfaction & Retention: Maintain ongoing communication with clients post-sale to ensure project satisfaction and foster opportunities for future collaborations. Identify opportunities for upselling and expanding services with existing clients, contributing to the company's long-term revenue growth. Qualifications Education: Bachelors or advanced degree in Biology, Biochemistry or related discipline Experience: 5 or more years of sales experience with a CDMO or cell therapy biotech/pharmaceutical company Additional Qualifications: Strong network in the cell and gene therapy industry is highly preferred. Travel: At least 40% for client meetings, conferences, and industry events. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to navigate a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and adapt to evolving market conditions. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with clients, internal teams, and senior management effectively. Strong customer engagement skills with a proven ability to maintain relationships and achieve client satisfaction. Deep understanding of the CDMO space, particularly in cell and gene therapy, clinical development, and the biotech/pharmaceutical sectors. Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess opportunities, create solutions, and make data-driven decisions. Comfort with digital tools such as CRM systems, project management software, and data mining tools as part of the sales process. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and clients simultaneously. This position requires a presence in Rye, NY. For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $150,000.00p/yr. to $160,000.00p/yr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicants skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
