Job DetailsJob Location502 East 163rd Street (Bronx) - Bronx, NYPosition TypeFull-Time ExemptSalary Range$95,000.00 - $105,000.00 Salary/yearDescriptionTitle: Senior Director of ProgramsUnit: Court AdvocacyReports to: Associate Vice President of ProgramsStatus: Full-Time; Regular; ExemptSalary: $95,000-$105,000 Location Bronx, NYDate Prepared: September 20, 2024 Position Summary:The Senior Director of Programs (SD) will maintain direct oversight of the Supervised Release Program (SRP) and Women's Mental Health initiative and (WMH) and will assist the AVP in project planning as needed. The SD is responsible for overseeing community and court-based operations in the Bronx for both programs. The SD will report to and have full support from the Associate Vice President of Programs (AVP).The SD will provide programmatic supervision and guidance to clinical staff, management staff and supervise, evaluate and support the development of line staff within the unit, including maintaining weekly supervision sessions and overseeing day to day job performance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for assisting in project planning for SRP and the WMH program, including recruitment and hiring, creating policies and procedures, workflows and data collection, etc.;
  • Responsible for hiring and managing staff for SRP and WMH programs;
  • Supervise, evaluate and support the development of clinical case managers, coordinators and directors within the unit, as well as any line staff under his/her direct supervision, including maintaining weekly supervision sessions and overseeing day to day job performance;
  • Create and maintain relationships with court partners including public defender agencies, the District Attorney's offices and various judges and other court staff;
  • Ensuring achievement of the contractual and agency goals and objectives for all programs within the unit;
  • Ensuring timely and accurate internal and contractual reporting, including playing an active role in development and implementation of new reports as needed to assess program effectiveness and achievement of desired outcomes;
  • Provide regular supervision to staff, and lead team meetings;
  • Work closely with program staff and leadership to coordinate care of clients;
  • Participate in meetings, conferences, coalitions and public speaking opportunities related to unit and agency, both locally and nationally when the opportunity presents itself;
  • Assess unit staff and agency training needs and providing and/or arranging for training needed to ensure professional and clinical standards in service delivery;
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans as needed;
  • Clearly communicate unit and agency priorities and ensuring that priorities set are carried out;
  • Function effectively as a member of Fortune's senior management and management teams;
  • Develop, nourish and maintain good working relationship with contract monitors and other funding source representatives;
  • Assist in the development of creative program design during proposal writing for future projects;
  • Participate in and support advocacy efforts at the Fortune Society;
  • Engage in his/her own ongoing professional development;
  • Additional responsibilities as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:Supervise two Case Management Coordinators, two Clinical Case Managers, and a Director; carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, recommending hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and engaging employees; addressing employee relations and resolving problems. QualificationsQualifications:
  • Master's degree in the field of social work, mental health, criminal justice or human services;
  • 5 years of management experience required;
  • Expertise of the Criminal Justice System and court procedure;
  • Knowledge of SRP, ATD and ATI services helpful;
  • Superior skills in MS Office including Excel, Word, and PPT;
  • Customer focused with the ability to effectively interact with employees from senior management to frontline;
  • Ability to communicate with people outside of the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public and other external sources, in person, in writing or by telephone;
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction;
  • Supervisory experience required;
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of supervision;
  • Ability to modify leadership style and management approach to reach goal;
  • Ability to establish long-range objectives and specify the strategies and actions to achieve them.
  • Develop policies, procedures, methods & standards within the department;
  • Work with staff to identify their developmental needs then coach, mentor or otherwise help them to improve their knowledge or skills;
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of direct reports, recommending and implementing personnel actions, such as promotions and dismissals.
Travel Requirements: May require travel to the four large borough courthouses and community-based sites.
