Role Overview
The Senior Director of Software Development will lead the development of our shared platform and several core platform services. This leader will play a key role in enhancing our product platform, which leverages event-driven microservices and domain-driven design to ensure scalability and performance. The role will focus on ensuring a world-class developer experience, driving API strategy, and fostering easy integration for partners, customers, and developers into our platform.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, architectural vision, and deep technical expertise in microservices, platform architecture, and SaaS-based product development. This person will work closely with engineering teams, architecture, and product leadership to create a cohesive and efficient platform while ensuring high-quality product delivery. The job requires an extensive background in running enterprise agile teams, have deep knowledge in scaled agile practices, modern deployment practices, and agile leadership principles.
What you'll do
- Oversee the development and scaling of cloud native shared & core platform services
- Lead the API strategy, focusing on consistency, ease of use, and seamless integration for customers, partners, and internal teams
- Drive the design and implementation of event-driven microservices architecture and domain-driven design principles to support scalable, resilient, and flexible systems across engineering teams
- Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and architecture teams to drive continuous improvements in platform performance, reliability, and scalability
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and transparency, empowering teams to resolve challenges, experiment, and collaborate openly. Attract, develop, and retain top talent while providing career coaching, performance evaluation, and mentorship to ensure a high-performance organization that consistently meets or exceeds goals
What we're looking for
- Proven experience leading teams responsible for platform services, microservices architecture, event-driven architecture, and API development in a cloud native & SaaS environment
- Significant understanding and knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the software engineering and architecture field
- Experience with API strategy and creating exceptional developer experiences
- Track record of building scalable and reliable software platforms
- Experience managing and leading Agile teams in a fast-paced software development environment
- Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field and 12+ years of enterprise software development experience with 8+ years of leadership experience
- Experience with leading teams building product platforms using domain-driven design
- Experience in the FinTech space highly desirable
- Experience with engineering software using the Microsoft stack of technologies desirable
