Description

Position Summary:

Responsible for all Plasma Center Operations. Directs and provides guidance to Center Directors and

professional staff to ensure delivery of production goals, regulatory and quality compliance, and customer

requirements and expectations. Develops annual budgets and has budget accountability for areas of

responsibility. Develops departmental goals and establishes deliverables.

Key Duties (E):

* Directs and is accountable for the performance of each area of responsibility including employee development, quality standards, cost efficiencies and production objectives. Implements necessary strategies to achieve desired results and reconcile problem areas through consultation with management.

* Responsible for overseeing Center Operations, including the implementation and production of Specialty products programs.

* Establishes financial budgets and production plan for Plasma Centers including Specialty products. Responsible for production and ensures volume and product quality are met. Conforms production plans to sales forecasts and directs Centers to achieve required product volume and quality. Responsible for establishing standard costs for plasma products.

* Collaborates with Quality Assurance and Regulatory groups to ensure optimum product quality and donor, employee and environmental safety.

* Ensures compliance to established Standard Operating Procedures and quality systems that comply with federal, state, and international regulations and industry standards.

* Develops effective tools and key performance indicators to measure and monitor Center performance to ensure goals are met. Establishes goals and objectives in a clear and understandable manner.

* Develops and implements continuous process improvements throughout Plasma Operations. Makes effective use of technology and recognizes the need for new or modified approaches to the operations.

* Responsible for timely and effective investigations of problems/situations arising in Centers or operational areas. Responsible for resolution management including recommendation and implementation of required actions.

* Responsible for components of new center openings to include collaboration with project teams to finalize new site architecture and floor plans including constructions and renovations. Oversees new center rollout teams. Responsible for timely and cost-effective project completion. Ensures new centers are prepared for licensing inspection.

* Oversees contractual arrangements for security, janitorial and freezer monitoring services. Plan and prepare for contingencies, such as power outages, weather, freezer breakdown.

* Supports implements and is accountable for activities related to material purchases, material control, inventory control and material storage and transportation functions to meet Plasma Operations requirements.

* Evaluates and supports effective marketing programs to maximize production levels, donor retention and outstanding customer service levels

* Support as a corporate liaison on legal issues involving Plasma Center operations.

* Collaborates with Human Resources in the development of effective leadership programs through hiring, training and effective succession planning.

* Participates in Corporate meetings and programs as required.

* Participates in Corporate cross functional teams as required.

* Performs other projects as assigned by Vice President, Plasma Services.

Compliance Requirements (E):

* Must have complete understanding of managing a highly regulated, multi-location environment, including direct and indirect supervision of professional, managerial and technical specialists performing under enforceable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), FDA and International Health Authorities regulations, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Knowledge of Plasma Center operations and Specialty products required. Knowledge of plasma regulatory requirements and cGMP's essential.

Physical Requirements (E):

* Hazards: Frequent road travel, infrequent exposure to cold temperatures when working in or around freezers at Centers; to human source blood or plasma products at the Centers

* Stressors: Frequent interruptions, multiple priorities, resolving subordinate personnel issues. Overnight travel required. Frequent meetings before or after work hours, especially while traveling; working time can exceed 12 hours per day

Travel Requirements (E):

* 40% of time in office. 30% of time meeting with departments in person, phone, or video conference. 30% of time traveling via airplane and car to Plasma Centers

* Must be able to travel in support of center opening activities and other reasons as needed.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in sciences, health administration, or business management preferred. Extensive management experience in health or plasma related field can offset degree requirement.

Experience Requirements:

* Expertise in Center Management and plasma operations with minimum ten years experience.

* Must be able to lead in a versatile, high stress, high visibility and regulated environment. Must be able to implement budget plans and evaluate financial data and prepare implementation plans based on this evaluation. Able to evaluate and interpret regulations and recognize the need for appropriate changes relative to training and procedures. Must have excellent writing and oral skills. Must be able to prepare, deliver presentations and facilitate for small and large groups. Must be able to read, understand, and implement programs based on technical regulations and manuals. Must have a strong customer service orientation and able to work well under pressure while interfacing with all levels of decision-makers including, customers, distributors, consultants, agencies and suppliers. Proven ability to motivate employees at all levels within an organization. Strong grasp of employee relation issues and human resource related laws and programs. Knowledge of all Federal and multiple State regulations including OSHA and CLIA. Must be project oriented, creative, and computer literate. Experience with standard office software (Excel, Word, Microsoft Project)

* Senior and Center Management group and other professionals (when applicable) within areas of responsibility. Approximately 100 employees supervised indirectly. Direct all aspects of employment relationship involving multiple locations

* Develop and manage operational budget and production goals. Duties are performed within very broad parameter. Works on complex problems where situational/data analysis requires in-depth evaluation of wide variety of factors. Judgment sometimes exercised without defined practices and policies. Includes geographic dispersion of subordinates. Accountable for Center and operations management and makes critical decisions affecting financial, operational and business activities. Implement and develop strategies to improve operations and ensure ongoing regulatory and customer compliance. Develop programs that ensure recruitment, development and retention of employees. Financial responsibility for managing plasma center budgets, expenses and cost control.

* Geographic dispersion of subordinates; highly regulated and constantly changing environment; direct dealing with public (donors). Travel as needed. Meeting forecasted production and budget goals at multiple facilities. Regulatory compliance. Responsibility for the health and safety of employee and donors. Employee relation issues at multiple locations. Completing projects with short deadlines. Frequent distractions, interruptions and lack of control over resources. Multiple priorities. Must rely on other departments for approval and completion of documentation and projects. Significant part of responsibility is done remotely and therefore, critical to have strong

supervisory and managerial techniques to ensure compliance.

Preferred Education Requirements: Master's degree in sciences, health administration or business management is desirable. Education may be substituted for experience as described above.
