Athlete Experience (AX) is a cross functional, OMNI initiative that is at the heart of DICKs transformation to become the best Sports Company in the World. We endeavor to evolve how we serve the Athlete to be more holistic and provide a relationship-based offering that begins with motivating our athletes in sport to helping them improve their game. Under the AX portfolio, we connect across our initiatives of Loyalty, Personalization, Retail, Services and Performance. As Senior Director of AX you will be responsible for the vision and coordination of the development and management of the strategy and vision of the Athlete Experience ecosystem. This work will be in concert with key members of business and partner teams across the ecosystem. You will also partner with members of our finance team regarding value development, OKR and KPI identification and other forms of measurement of the strategy. You will be a central member of the AX Core Team supporting and defining key parts of the operating model of AX.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Strategy and vision development (annual, semi-annual review and alignment to quarterly deliverables). In this capacity you will partner with key senior team members of AX across Technology, Stores, e-Commerce and Marketing and Insights to develop the strategic vision of AX. This requires skills such as:
Interpretation of Athlete and Teammate insights into work product
Sizing market opportunities
Developing POV of complexity of execution
Designing competitive analysis to determine space in the marketplace
Partnering with finance on designing the size of the opportunity
Build journey maps across different workstreams
Story telling the recommendation and working to align consensus across ELT stakeholders
Co-partner on key parts of the strategy to ensure work is delivered. In this capacity you will be an owner or co-owner of the work itself to ensure effective delivery. This requires skills such as:
Ability to lead cross-functional teams across the portfolio
Strong understanding of Technology and the Product model
Ability to delivery results on time, on budget and in-line with value expectations
Working across teams to manage dependencies with other teams. In this capacity you will be working with teams outside of the AX team to ensure key dependencies and sequencing is managed and taken into account when designing work and tracking work. This requires skill such as:
Ability to partner across the DSG ecosystem, with a strong understanding of all parts of a retail organization
Ability to influence other teams and leaders to design an integrated roadmap
Understanding of how to manage contentious roadmaps and build bridges across teams / work
You will be a central leader of the AX team and will be a key member in the teams health and health of the work. This requires skills such as:
Willingness to engage in designing the culture of the team
Building and adhering to tools to help manage the work
Developing talent both directly and indirectly
Building support for the work within and outside of the organization
Qualifications
We are seeking candidates with 7-10 years of experience in Consulting, Investment Banking, Private Equity / Venture Capital, and/or Internal Corporate Strategy for a Fortune 500 Company.
Strong results-orientation; track record of execution of strategy initiatives.
Prior experience in consumer-facing and/or retail environment strongly preferred.
Exceptional consultation, relationship-building and influencing skills.
