This position is responsible for the Electrical Engineer Design as the subject matter expert including eventual integration and supporting on-site installation. In addition this position is responsible for ship yard Electrical Engineerin support related to Virginia Class Submarine (VA Class) and all its variants. United Status Coast Guard assests such as Fast Response Cutter (FRC), National Security Cutter (NSC) and integration efforts for the C5ISR business area.
Essential Functions: - Design the full electrical system including interconnect using Zuken E3 tool set. Responsible for interface with all disciplines to ensure design is compliant to all requirements, prepare and present the EE design at all internal and external design reviews.
- Lead a team of Electrical Engineers in capturing the electrical design, including training of the team and developing new to Engineers in the “best practices” and techniques to grow skills.
- Drive E3 practices on the electrical design to realize significant savings for the program.
- Responsible for the financial performance of the EE design. Manage the teams performance related to SPI and CPI and report monthly through EVMS reporting.
- Generate Configuration Change Requests and update Technical Data Packages as required.
- 10 - 25% travel.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 6 years related experience.
- Proven operational understanding and troubleshooting experience of C5ISR systems: hardware, software, cables, antennas, etc. and will configure, modify, test, and debug the system accordingly as required on CSC, FRC and VA Class ( all variants)
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
- 4 years experience related to detailed electrical design.
- 6 years' experience in developing and interpreting system requirements and designs related to shipboard communication systems.
- 6 years' experience with military and commercial radios, baseband equipment, telephony, cryptos, voice/data terminals and system cable design.
- Experience in the design and development of EE ship board communications using E3 Zuken toolset and training of others in the tool. ( Interconnection Block Diagrams IBD, individual cable design including wire, terminations, connector selection sleeving, pins, etc.)
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to interface with customers as well as various sub-contractors and sub-system developers including internal such as Operations, QA and CAD during design, fabrication, integration and test and eventual installation.
- Experience and ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to adapt quickly to changes in schedule, tasking, and priorities while being responsible for EE CPI and SPI including reporting monthly EVMS.
- Must be able to travel to and work at various field sites including shipyards, communication stations, and command centers (domestic and international) with little advance notice.
- Must be able to present and update training material to groups of 15-20 and lead lab exercises to reinforce classroom training.
Preferred Additional Skills: - Experience with training and leading teams in Electrical Design
- Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical degree
- Strong diagnostic / troubleshooting skills with proven ability to quickly resolve issues at the unit and system level
- Experience with isolating and resolving problems quickly and accurately.
- Possess ability to work in a team setting in a fast-paced environment, adapting quickly to changes in schedule, tasking and priority.
- Possess ability to work independently and drive actions to closure.
- Possess ability to write clearly and concisely and to provide accurate and complete status reports on a daily basis.
- 8 plus years Shipboard systems integration experience preferred
