The role of the Senior Employee Relations Consultant will provide advanced level professional HR consultation to all levels of management and employees on a broad scope of HR programs including employee relations, performance management, issue resolution, ADA Job Accommodation, FMLA, policy development, federal, state and agency policy compliance, EEOC, personnel related FOIA requests, VEC, exit survey analysis and general workforce management. The position is responsible for managing employee relations issues and investigations, using data to make informed decisions, respond to workplace concerns through review, documentation and fact-finding, advise/counsel managers and employees, and help guide the organization toward a more proactive employee relations landscape. Minimum Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of employee relations including but not limited to dispute resolution, investigation, performance management, disciplinary actions, mediation and/or employee grievance procedure;
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws, policies and procedures and the ability to interpret existing policies and apply them in the workplace;
  • Ability to design, analyze, develop, implement, and revise policies, procedures, and programs;
  • Ability to manage projects and lead teams and analyze the business environment to develop effective solutions;
  • Ability to maintain accurate and confidential records and fact-finding documentation;
  • Ability to provide policy and program guidance in geographically diverse and centralized organization;
  • General knowledge across core HR functional areas including but not limited to compensation, classification, recruitment, and selection and/or employee benefit programs;
  • Advanced Microsoft Office experience including virtual team platforms for meetings, shared team documents and instant messaging communications.
Additional Considerations
  • Experience supporting complex employee relations cases such as ADAAA, Civility in the Workplace and Workplace Investigations;
  • Experience in Human Resources working as an expert-level advisor in employee relations field;
  • Experience managing complex employee relations cases involving federal and state policy and law;
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, IPMA-SCP, IPMA-CP, PMI, PMP, or other relevant certification credentials.
