Position Overview PowerOptions focuses a tremendous amount of effort on monitoring the various market levers causing shifts in commodity prices, enabling us to provide our Members expert guidance to inform their commodity purchasing decisions and overall energy strategy. This role will provide comprehensive market analysis and intelligence, detailing the impact of key trends, in a way that can be adapted for energy experts or novices, and informing how PowerOptions Member Managers educate and advise Members on procurement strategy and managing their risk. As an essential part of the Member Relations team, the Senior Energy Markets Analyst's role is crucial in supporting the PowerOptions team and its Members as the key in-house resource for market analysis and guidance. Key Responsibilities Responsibilities of the Senior Energy Markets Analyst position include but are not limited to:
- Serve as the internal subject matter expert on energy markets including
- Retail energy supply contracts
- Energy procurement
- The New England competitive electricity and natural gas markets as well as LDC operations
- Commodity pricing origination
- ISO operations
- Develop regular energy market updates for the PowerOptions team and work with the Marketing team to develop updates for members
- Keep the Member Relationship Managers and Business Development Manager up to date with energy market activity including weekly email updates; daily updates as warranted by market events
- Provide support for Member commodity decision-making, including through the development of analyses, development of pricing strategies, market presentations and other communications products and decision-making tools
Qualifications and Experience: While no candidate will embody all qualifications, the ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Bachelor's degree with a major or minor in business, economics, engineering, sustainability, or a related field preferred or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience, training, and education
- Minimum of 5 years related professional experience
- Demonstrated experience with energy markets
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills with ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively
- Self-motivated and able to work individually, while contributing to team success.
- Superb analytical skills with the ability to support Commodity programs using market data
- Experience participating in negotiations
