The Right Fit:Ideal candidate possesses a bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management and 10+ years experience in fueling, chemical, hazardous and/or flammable liquid process system design and/or construction including tank, pump and piping systems. Knowledge in hazardous waste regulations, fire code (NFPA 1, NFPA 30, NFPA 30A) and/or SPCC desired as well as:
- Understanding of chemical tank, pump, piping systems and applicable regulations
- Registered professional engineer (PE) in good standing
- Practical experience with full process of implementing a project - concept through construction/startup/operation
- Engineering in support of Process Safety Management (PSM) regulated sites
- Mechanically inclined and not afraid to jump in and get hands dirty
- Outgoing and good with working in close-knit teams
- Able to build/maintain client relationships
- Flexible, willing to take on new project types/opportunities
Tasks:
- Fielding initial inquiries from clients on potential design projects
- Developing conceptual project designs
- Developing engineering work scopes & budgets
- Preparing proposals
- Developing process drawings including: process flow diagrams (PFDs), process & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), piping & mechanical layouts, details, etc. (Drafting by others)
- Developing technical specifications
- Preparing bid documents
- Preparing and reviewing engineering calculations including: head-loss calcs, heating calcs, secondary containment calculations, venting calculations
- Preparing engineers construction estimates
- Preparing construction (CM/GC) cost proposals
- Writing SPCC Plans
- Completing regulatory compliance and engineering assessments of existing systems
- Mentoring and reviewing work on all of the above by others
- Marketing/business development client events
- Engineering staff performance reviews
