Our products are primarily electromechanical with a small, but growing, digital element.enviolo's Senior Engineer is a critical technical leader in our global product-based organization and key contributor to our ongoing product development initiatives. As a technical leader at our Product Development focused Texas facility, you will drive the design, analysis, development and validation of high profile transmission and transmission adjacent products.Your functional goal is to significantly increase the capacity of our design team and position enviolo to support multiple technology panthers with large scale product development projects. We look to you to quickly move up a steep learning curve and position yourself as an enviolo CVP expert. Key Responsibilities & Objectives
- You are a integral part of the engineering and design team when it comes to great design and problem solving
- You are responsible for designing and helping to release and launch new products in the enviolo product roadmap, acting as a key contributor to new product development projects.
- You are responsible for leading the mechanical design and integration of a transmission within a motor toward the delivery of a motor + transmission product for enviolo's ebike customers
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) tools for system and component level design (Creo).
- Design components for volume manufacturing, and support manufacturing partners and their suppliers in process development and validation
- Technical support of suppliers and manufacturing partners including supporting design validation
Scope
- Technical strategy development
- As one of the lead technical people in the product development team, you will be actively involved in determining the technical strategy of enviolo. You will need to obtain and then maintain an up-to-date technical understanding of bicycle transmissions, ebike motors and overall ebike system designs.
- Personnel management
- You will be expected to operate within a small technical team and rely on colleagues throughout the organization to deliver project results. There are no planned direct reports for this position.
- Engineering execution
- You are responsible for ensuring that the product vision is realized through excellence in product development execution. You will consistently deliver thorough, accurate and manufacturable 3D models and 2D drawings of assemblies and component parts.
- Along with the Chief Engineer of Product Research, you will guide, review and check the technical work of other engineers on the product development team.
- Validation and testing
- You will be responsible for ensuring that any of the new products you design have completed the appropriate testing processes that characterize and define our product capabilities and perform to our application criteria.
- The vast majority of CVP testing is done on site at our Leander facility. Some non-CVP testing can be conducted on site with the remaining tests conducted by partners or third parties.
- Intellectual property (IP)
- Extend our IP and patent portfolio to protect our product differentiation and market position by:
- Solving challenging technical problems with creative solutions and communicating well with internal and external counsel to define new inventions.
- Reviewing and evaluating non-enviolo products and designs to support potential acquisition of IP.
Primary Relationships
- You report to enviolo's Director of Engineering & Design. You will receive technical oversight from enviolo's Chief Engineer of Product Research and be a key member of the overall product development team based in Texas..
- Internal at enviolo, you will work most closely with the Design, Test & Validation, Program Management and Product Management teams.

- External R&D partners (focused on transmission and motor integration projects)
- Our contract manufacturers on how our products can be consistently manufactured well (our Quality function oversees these relationships)
- Customers and key industry partners wanting and needing interaction(s) with our technical experts - you should inspire confidence in these settings with your technical ability and understanding
Qualifications
- Ideal candidate will have a BSME or MSME or similar
- 10+ Years' experience of success in a mechanical design and engineering role
- Experience within transmissions, mechanical rotating devices etc. strongly preferred.
- 5+ Years experience in design for volume manufacturing (materials and processes)
- 5+ Years experience in new product development and introduction
- Experience/proven track record with innovation and/or IP creation
- GD&T experience required
- Product specification development and lifecycle management
- Experience with engineering support of suppliers and manufacturing partners
- Excellent proficiency in 3D and 2D CAD using Creo and Windchill
- Know-how to create progress and solve problems; you are a 'no excuses' proactive, collaborative problem solver capable of mobilizing and motivating resources across and outside the organization
- Prior experience in testing and validation a plus
- Prior experience working within an international company
- Prior experience (or current interest in) working within cycling or urban mobility strongly preferred, but not required
- Excellent oral/written/presentation communication skills
