Responsibilities The Senior Engineer/Manager - Incentive and Innovation reports to the VP of Innovation and is responsible for identifying innovative utility incentives and grants to enhance the ROI of energy service projects, including those related to Energy Efficiency, Water Efficiency, and Waste/Carbon Management This role requires expertise in identifying utility, state, federal, and other incentive programs, including rebates, tax deductions, and custom performance-based measures The Senior Engineer/Manager will develop measurement and verification protocols to assess achieved savings, support the energy engineering teams across all regions, and contribute to proposals for utility grants and large incentive RFPs Additionally, they will conduct pre- and post-performance incentive analyses to optimize available incentives and introduce innovative technologies and products to enhance value for customers and strengthen proposal offerings In this role, 40% of your time will be spent: - Seeking out new opportunities for revenue, grants, RFPs, and incentives to help improve project economics, - Managing the pipeline of projects submitted through the various programs for incentives to receive grants, and Developing an approved M&V strategy for maximizing incentives Energy Performance Engineering Analysis is 45% of your time in this role - Guiding the engineering team on the best strategy for incentives and to assisting to estimate the potential incentives - Developing detailed spreadsheet calculations and energy models as required by the incentive programs, - Submitting applications incentives for various programs along with supporting energy savings analysis to receive the incentives or grants, - Managing/installing data loggers for data trends to measure the pre-baseline and post data as required to receive the incentive, - Measuring pre-and-post data for the ECMs submitted as per the program requirements, - Developing the detailed energy savings analysis and performance measurement calculations for submittals - Engaging and innovating products, processes for Energy Efficiency, Demand Management, Energy - Vetting the products for effectiveness and introducing new products to the team Job Requirements Qualifications - Holds a B.S. 4-year degree in electrical, mechanical, industrial, energy systems engineering with relevant experience - Hold one or more technology and industry certifications (PE, CEM, CEA, CMVP, etc.) - Demonstrated expertise in performing savings calculations for energy and water upgrades - Knowledge of MS Office and especially Advanced Excel functions for developing complex utility-saving models - Perform energy audits according to ASHRAE standards (ASHRAE Level 1, 2& 3 and IGA: Investment Grade Audits) in consulting or ESCo environment - Perform energy efficiency project performance management as per IPMVP protocols - Experience in technical writing of grant/tax credit/incentive proposals and grants for utility, state, federal programs or other grant writing experience related - Energy analysis for custom incentive savings calculations using various advanced excel tools and energy modeling software such as Trane Trace 3Ds, IES VE or others - Experience as an Energy Program Manager preferably in a utility program management environment for incentives and grants - Working as a proposal manager for incentives and grants for utility, state and federal opportunities - Working as a Senior Energy Efficiency/ Performance Engineer for at least 3 + years for developing and measuring performance of energy, water efficiency and renewable energy projects - Technical experience with implementing performance measurement plans for guaranteed savings projects - Analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills - Effective interpersonal skills to engage with various utility program managers and their consultants to discuss incentive proposals - Demonstrated flair for sourcing and implementing methodology for maximizing energy efficiency, and water management incentives in custom programs and grants - Experience with advanced building services knowledge such as mechanical & and HVAC, Building Automation Systems, electrical & and lighting - Experience with industrial systems such as air compressors, vacuum pumps, steam systems, heat exchangers, heat recovery systems, and other process applications - Some overnight travel and genuine passion for energy efficiency and decarbonization efforts
