Wealth Management Advice and Solutions (WMAS) is responsible for leading the firm in ensuring our clients are on track to meet their financial goals. Products is an area within WMAS focused on enabling personalized client outcomes by leading the strategy and evolution of the firm's wealth management offering. Part of the Products team in our WMAS division, our Edward Jones Trust Company provides personalized investment management and fiduciary services. Edward Jones Trust Company provides a full range of trust, investment management, and custody services to individuals, businesses, charitable organizations, and private foundations.What You Will Do:
  • Daily management of complex probate and estate settlement trusts in accordance with the language provided in the governing instrument (trust agreements, wills, and powers of attorney), all contracts relating to the account relationship, Edward Jones Trust Company guidelines, and federal and state fiduciary standards
  • Deep discovery for asset identification, asset gathering and analysis in a high volume environment; this may entail researching prior tax returns, asking questions of family members and local professionals, and researching years of books and records
  • Developing, strengthening, and retaining client, beneficiary and branch team relationships
  • Reviewing, understanding, and interpreting language in trusts and other estate planning documents in order to formulate a plan for execution of the overall estate plan strategy while limiting fiduciary, regulatory and legal risk in all 50 states
  • Partnering with financial advisors to fully understand client needs, develop communication plans for the duration of the execution phase of the estate plan and setting expectations in order to deliver an excellent client experience
  • Discussing and explaining complex estate planning concepts, trust terms and legal concerns/requirements with beneficiaries and financial advisors in a way that is easy to understand
  • Managing the Trust and Estate accounts with external attorneys, CPAs and business professionals, other Trust Company associates, and branch teams, with an emphasis on probate and post-death trust matters
  • Understanding and balancing the needs of all current and future beneficiaries
  • Serving on Trust Company governance committees, participating in business planning or other initiatives as requested
  • Managing special assets and real estate, including marshalling, managing risk, and creating/executing the strategy for the sale or transfer thereof; • Researching various laws including statutory requirements, probate rules, and court requirements and applying knowledge of these laws to unique circumstances.
  • Formulating plans for the execution of estate plans, using tax planning analysis and wealth transfer strategies Engaging outside attorneys; including managing and following up on legal work performed by outside attorneys Serving on Governance Committees responsible for the day to day management of the Trust Company, leading and/or participating in business plan deliverables or other initiatives as requested
  • Supporting, training, mentoring, and efficiently working with other Trust Company associates
  • Developing and implementing guidelines and procedures
  • Leading and/or participating on initiatives within the department, across the division, and firm-wide that improve our ability to serve our clients and support the firm's mission
  • Serving as a thought leader and resource to the team and area

  • Bachelor's degree and CTFA, JD, CFP or equivalent professional certification required
  • At least 7-10 years trust and estate management, or related legal or financial services experience required
  • Knowledge of advanced fiduciary, gifting, trust management principles, estate planning principles, taxes, insurance, and investment principles and techniques required
  • Advanced ability to balance high risk business, compliance and legal factors when making decisions
  • Advanced ability to manage real estate, TPP, and other unique assets and identify and mitigate risks related to those assets
  • Ability to work in team-based environment, delegate work appropriately, deliver training, and lead meetings effectively
  • Ability to lead client meetings with financial advisors and tax and legal professionals
  • Ability to use trust accounting system, Microsoft products and other automation tools
  • Advanced ability to manage competing priorities resulting from a complex account load
  • Exceptional organizational skills are required
  • Mal communication (especially in complex, technical matters) and demonstrate high level of interpersonal skills Ability to serve as leader in leader's absence and act as a resource for others on the team.
