Our challenge

We are seeking an experienced ETL Tester with a strong knowledge of backend databases to join our data quality assurance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and reliability of data as it flows from source systems to target data warehouses through various ETL processes. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of database technology.

Additional Information

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within New York, NY is $110- $120k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and execute ETL test cases to validate data transformation, loading processes, and overall ETL workflows.
  • Conduct thorough data validation processes by comparing source and target datasets to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Utilize your knowledge of SQL and other database technologies to write complex queries for data comparison and to identify discrepancies.
  • Assess ETL job performance and optimize for efficiency, ensuring data load processes meet performance benchmarks.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of test plans, test cases, and testing results, ensuring traceability and repeatability.
  • Identify opportunities for test automation and work towards implementing automated testing frameworks for ETL processes.
  • Contribute to process improvements to enhance data quality and testing efficiency.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in ETL testing with a strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and processes.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL. Familiarity with NoSQL databases is a plus.
  • Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica, Talend, Microsoft SSIS, or similar.
  • Familiarity with manual testing tools and practices. Experience with test automation tools like Selenium, QTP, or others is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate findings and collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Knowledge of data governance and data quality frameworks.
  • Certifications related to ETL, data testing, or database technologies.
