Job Summary:Performs complex electrical apparatus work onsite at customer's facilities. This includes electrical testing, preventative maintenance, commissioning, upgrades, and repairs to electrical apparatus. Responsible for troubleshooting, training, establishing LOTO, interacting with customers,report writing, etc.Reports To:Region Operations Manager or Field Service SupervisorCompany Overview:Founded in 1985, Premier Power Maintenance is a leading provider of high voltage specialty services, NETA testing, P&C Commissioning, Life extension and Specialty Construction Services. Our goal is to provide customers with a safe, dependable, and uninterrupted power supply.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Execute mechanical and electrical tasks on equipment utilized in power transmission, distribution, and generation at customer facilities.Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and write diagrams to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems.Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean all components in a substation.Lead the following tasks: Transformer Testing - Power factor, TTR, insulation resistance, SFRA, winding resistance, partial discharge, and leakage reactance.Cable Testing - Insulation resistance, tan delta, hipot, TDR, partial discharge, and cable thumper.Circuit Breaker Testing - Insulation resistance, contact resistance, power factor, breaker timing, SF6 gas analysis, CT testing, high current testing, secondary injection testing, and vacuum bottle integrity testing.Test both electrical-mechanical and solid-state relays. Participate in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.Plan, participate, and develop safety meetings and training.Support management in the planning, scheduling, execution, and cost management of field projects.The above list of duties is not exhaustive; other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Familiar with industry standards such as NETA, NFPA 70E, OSHA compliance standards, safety laws, and DOT regulations.Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical problems.Strong communication and problem-solving skills.Strong PC skills including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Office.Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet goals and deadlines.Ability to work independently, while utilizing excellent judgement.Doble DTAF and Power DB knowledge is preferred; training will be provided.Consistently on time for daily work assignments, meetings, training, etc.Demonstrate organizational skills including on-time reporting of time and expenses, weekly status reports, and any other documentation requirements.Responsible for keeping tools, test equipment, and vehicles in clean and organized condition and up to date with service and calibrations. Work Environment: Willing to relocate within 60 miles of the hiring regional office.Corporate business hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm, but hours outside of business hours may be required.Work in close, but safe, proximity to live electrical substations.Able to work overtime including nights, weekends, and some holidays.Able to travel on overnight, multi-day, out-of-town projects.Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner. Education and Work Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's or Associates Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology, or Military experience preferred.At least 10 years of experience in electrical substation testing, construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, assembly, and commissioning required.Ability to achieve NETA level III or IV within 6 months of employment.Project management experience and ability to support management in the planning, scheduling, execution and cost management of field projects. Other Requirements: Pass a pre-employment criminal background check and motor vehicle check.Pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, as well as periodic, unannounced random testing.Valid driver's license and willingness to obtain an endorsement to operate a combined vehicle weight up to 26k lbs.Able to lift and maneuver at least 50 lbs.Willing to obtain a company paid TWIC card, OSHA 10/30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70E, and CPR training.
