Job DescriptionA leading company is seeking a Senior Financial Reporting Accountant to oversee the preparation of external financial statements and conduct technical accounting research. The ideal candidate is a meticulous professional with strong experience in financial reporting and compliance. Working collaboratively, the new team member will improve business efficiency by ensuring accurate, timely financial disclosures and supporting audits, regulatory filings, and adherence to corporate financial policies and procedures. Salary + Additional Benefits:
  • $80,000-$100,000
  • Hybrid - Work onsite 50% of the time, days are flexible
Location: Houston, TX Type of Position: Direct Hire Responsibilities:
  • Prepare schedules for SEC filings including Form 10-Qs, 10-Ks and other various reports.
  • Prepare supplemental reconciliation and schedules for internal reporting package.
  • Analyze supporting documentation received from Accounting and other departments to determine accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with special projects as necessary.
  • Provide system maintenance within financial reporting, including extraction and analysis of data from multiple ledgers.
  • Upload journal entries on monthly basis.
  • Ascertain that transactions are properly supported and classified in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Recognize and research unusual variances or apparent inconsistencies within the financial statements.
  • Provide system maintenance within financial reporting, including extraction and analysis of data from multiple ledgers.
  • Document and ensure recording of appropriate accounting treatment for all items impacting financial statements and SEC reporting and compliance issues and communicates to management.
  • Prepare and coordinate investor relations activities including SEC filings and press releases for periodic earnings announcements, presentation materials for investor relations events and other tasks as needed.
  • Project manage short-term initiatives with department scope. Develops timelines, Gantt charts, activity logs, schedules and facilitates recurring team meetings, writes business requirements, may write software test scripts and guide testers as well as drafts communications and job aids.
  • Self-manage workload-negotiating deadlines to meet expectations. Take the initiative to discuss assignments, expectations, priorities, and deadlines as well as seek guidance and coaching from manager.
  • Adjust quickly to new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures.
  • Complete complex and unique assignments independently. Apply experience and knowledge of industry, company, policies, and regulations to resolve or recommend solutions. Discuss escalated issue recommendations with manager. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Recommend efficiencies to team and manager. Document work as part of deliverables, resulting in high quality materials for internal and external usage. Write standard operating procedures (SOP) and develops job aids. May train colleagues on department procedures.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • CPA or working towards CPA preferred
  • At least four (4) years of Financial Reporting work experience accurately preparing various filings
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP, SEC rules and regulations, and internal controls
  • Working knowledge of accounting for share-based compensation in accordance with ASC718
  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of regulations
  • Experience with ERP systems (i.e., SAP, Oracle)
  • Cognitive Ability including reason, plan, solve problems, think abstractly, comprehend complex ideas, learn quickly, learn from experience, and appropriately apply learning to new situations
  • Process and results oriented, motivated to keep projects moving ahead by removing obstacles and exploring alternatives
  • Ability to multi-task and always try to optimize priorities to meet target
  • Applies best practices in documenting business requirements in an iterative way, particularly using agile methodologies
  • Ability to create clear reports and data visualizations to assist in decision-making and problem analysis
  • Conversant in technical discipline acumen
  • Must have a positive attitude, a highly self-starter to continually advance your understanding of the industry and business
  • Collaborative and team-oriented personality
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient MS Office Suite skills, with advanced application of power query preferred
