Position Summary The Senior Financial Reporting Analyst will work as part of the Financial Reporting team and is responsible for ensuring that all financial statements, reports and disclosures are complete, accurate and timely for SEC reporting, and for internal reporting to the Executive team. This position is in downtown Houston, TX. Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. There may be times when the team is required to come into the office on designated remote workdays for specific business needs. Level and salary commensurate with experience.
Essential Job Functions - Assist with the preparation of financial statements and related schedules for the monthly financial package
- Compile monthly and quarterly variance analysis and explain significant variances in financial statement accounts, utilizing input from the respective account owners in the accounting department
- Assist with compilation of 10-K and 10-Q drafts, updating disclosures for the current reporting period and completing financial statement disclosure checklists
- Coordinate with other departments to obtain information for 10-K/Q disclosures
- Tie out all SEC filings and maintain organized tie-out binders to facilitate easy access to supporting documentation
- Record monthly journal entries, including preparation of related supporting schedules and account reconciliations, as needed
- Reconcile intercompany receivable and payable accounts, and ensure intercompany balances are properly eliminated on a consolidated basis
- Review XBRL tagging of financial statements and footnotes for Forms 10-K and 10-Q
- Coordinate with independent auditors to facilitate a successful audit and provide documentation requests, as necessary
- Tie-out of quarterly earnings releases, earnings call scripts and investor presentations
- Assist with tie-out of the annual proxy statement
- Assist with tie-out of registration statements, as necessary
- Monitor, assess and document impact of new GAAP Accounting Standards Updates and SEC guidelines
- Maintain SOX controls

Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in accounting
- 4 years of experience in accounting
- Mid-Tier firm accounting experience
- Exposure to financial reporting and SEC filings
- Excel proficient
- Proactive and deadline driven
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced and fluid environment; flexible with the demands of a growing company
- Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.

- Big 4 public accounting experience
- Upstream oil and gas accounting experience
- Experience with Workiva
- Experience with Planful (or similar applications such as OneStream or Hyperion)
