There has never been a better time to be a part of AtkinsRalis!We are seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join our team in Exton, PA, or Kirkland, WA, to lead and work on various Fire Protection Engineer and Facilities, Industrial or Commercial projects. This position offers the opportunity to lead the fire protection design on rewarding and challenging design projects both domestically and abroad. AtkinsRalis' projects range from extremely large Industrial and Pharmaceutical projects to smaller local project retrofits, to everything in-between.   • Lead the Fire Protection design.
  • Oversee/review the design for all the Fire Protection projects generated within the PGIS teams. Participate on projects with other design groups within AtkinsRalis.
  • Ensure the Fire Protection designs meet AtkinsRalis high design standards.
  • Sign and seal all engineering documents for the fire protection design.
  • Be highly motivated, constantly seek improvement in how we do things, and be willing to take on new challenges.
  • Manage multiple projects immediately, including developing proposals, project planning, staffing, and successful delivery of projects both through independent work and engaging other AtkinsRalis colleagues.
  • Cultivate working relationships with project managers, project teams, AtkinsRalis colleagues, and other clients.
  • Effectively network with other fire and life safety industry professionals.
  • Develop thorough and clear Design Analysis, Summary of Code Requirements and Life Safety Plans, and accurate Reports.
  • Provide planning and design details including engineering concepts, distribution plans, riser diagrams, detail drawings, schedules, specifications, design analysis, and engineering reports.
  • Conduct occasional on-site project observations and reviews; duties required to fulfill contractual obligations for construction phase services; overseeing other personnel assigned to this responsibility.
  • Coordinate with architectural, electrical, process piping and structural disciplines.
  • Complete Quality Management Training and comply with the program upholding a commitment to a culture of quality in all aspects of work.
What will you contribute?
  • The successful candidate will have a minimum 15 years of experience designing fire protection systems.
  • This person will be licensed as a professional engineer. A plus would be licensed as a fire protection engineer, having passed the NCEES exam for fire protection specifically.
  • A solid background designing automatic sprinkler systems, standpipes, fire pumps, foam and clean agent systems and writing the specifications for these systems is required.
  • Must be capable of writing specifications.
  • A solid understanding of the International Building Code, FM Global requirements, and The NFPA codes.
  • Experience managing a team is a plus.
  • Proficient in Excel and Word.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit is a plus.
