Senior Fleet Maintenance TechnicianSalary Range$30.66 - $32.41 HourlyDescriptionThe City of Wentzville is seeking candidates interested in joining our Public Works team. Come grow with us!The Senior Fleet Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing all City vehicles and equipment. This role is essential in ensuring that all equipment is in safe, working order, and to extend the life of City property.Essential Job Duties:Provide exceptional customer service to all individuals, including co-workers, internal and external customers, community members, and the public.Maintain a positive and productive work environment that aligns with the City's policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.Conduct routine preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including checking for defects, changing fluids, inspecting tires, and ensuring safety equipment is in good condition.Perform specialized repairs on a variety of equipment, such as engines, transmissions, steering systems, suspensions, wiring, electric motors, snowplows, salt spreaders, and hydraulic systems.The City of Wentzville is committed to being an employer of choice, offering prosperous and meaningful career opportunities and flexibility. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Additional requirements and/or substitutions may be requested and require the approval of HR.Minimum of 3 years of experience in the operation of fleet equipment and machinery required.Job-relevant certification/license, vocational/technical program completion, or completion of apprenticeship preferred.Class A CDL preferred, or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment required.Valid driver's license required.ASE Master Certification in either of the following required:Auto/Light Truck,Medium/Heavy Duty TruckEVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician) Certified within 180 days of employment required.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities – May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with this position.Knowledge and experience in using HVLP spray guns, body repair tools, paint mixing equipment, and safety gear.Proficiency in use of basic business software (word processing, spreadsheets, email, presentations) and basic office equipment.Ability to prepare and track maintenance and inspection plans.Attention to detail and the ability to maintain concentrated focus.Ability to provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with supervisors, co-workers, and customers by telephone, in writing, and in person.Ability to use good judgment and think rationally in difficult or stressful situations.Ability to develop goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work, as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.Ability to effectively organize and prioritize routine and robust tasks to meet deadlines.Ability to work independently under moderate supervision and make responsible decisions.Ability to work under established processes and solve problems within defined parameters.Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.Ability to safely drive vehicles used to transport materials, tools, and equipment.Regular attendance is a necessary and essential job duty.
