Salary Range: $125,000 - $175,000 (based on experience, education, and location) PG or EG cert is required

Overview

Our client is seeking a Licensed Professional or Certified Engineering Geologist in the State of California to join their Forestry team. This role is pivotal in geologic and slope stability assessments for private timberlands, including overseeing Timber Harvest Plans, Habitat Conservation Plan compliance, watershed analysis, and landslide mitigation. This is an opportunity to lead a team of geologists in sustainable forest management.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor geologists and geologists-in-training.

Training & Development: Deliver geologic training sessions for foresters and resource professionals.

Technical Analysis: Conduct field studies, mapping, and aerial photographic analysis to assess geologic formations, mass wasting, and geomorphology.

Regulatory Compliance: Develop and submit Timber Harvest Plans and Watershed Wide Waste Discharge Reports.

Mitigation & Restoration: Oversee road construction, repair, and stream restoration activities, ensuring minimal environmental impact.

Data Management: Maintain a property-wide landslide inventory and analyze watershed data.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with Registered Professional Foresters and other resource professionals.

Public Engagement: Present geologic findings in private and public forums.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Geology, Geomorphology, Soil Science, or Watershed Science.

Experience: Minimum of five years in related roles, with a strong background in forestry geosciences.

Licensure: Licensed Professional Geologist or Certified Engineering Geologist in California (or ability to meet licensing requirements).

Skills: Proficiency with GPS, topographic mapping, and software such as ArcView/ArcPro and MS Office Suite. CAD experience is a plus.

Physical Demands: Ability to hike steep terrains and lift/move up to 50 pounds.

Technical Expertise: Expertise in mass wasting geomorphology and soil conservation in forested environments.

Work Environment

Exposure to adverse outdoor conditions including steep terrains and varying weather.

Use of four-wheel-drive and all-terrain vehicles required.

Moderate noise levels and occasional exposure to airborne particles.
