Help support democracy worldwide by joining our team!About the RoleThis position is responsible for providing advanced Human Resources leadership, expertise and people-related advisory support to assigned international teams as well as ensuring compliance with internal policies/processes and relevant employment laws/regulations; and, for leading and/or participating in various Human Resources initiatives, projects, and/or functional operations.Your Purpose and Impact:Provide Human Resources leadership to assigned teams, acting as a strategic business partner in order to collaborate with management and staff.Provide guidance and oversight to ensure appropriate actions are taken to address and achieve solutions for people issues as it relates to workforce planning, performance management, employee relations, crisis management, compensation, benefits, and other employee-related actions.Stay abreast of U.S. and local labor law within the assigned country portfolio in order to provide guidance and support to international teams with an understanding of when NDI policies may or may not supersede local law laws; partner with NDI legal counsel and outside counsel as needed on the interpretation of local labor laws.Execute effective employee relations by analyzing, developing, implementing, and administering actions focused on maintaining positive, motivating and productive NDI-employee relationships. Conduct internal investigations and well-being checks related to employee complaints and/or concerns involving alleged violations of any employment laws and/or NDI policies.Partner with international teams with the start-up or close-down of regional offices - providing guidance and recommendations based on NDI policies and local labor law; Conduct new employee orientation, exit interviews and assist in the facilitation of redeployment of key talent to other offices.Build trust-based, collaborative and respectful relationships with management and staff, partnering with others across the organization and within Human Resources to create a positive work/culture through effective communications, policies and practices. Leads and/or participates in meetings within Human Resources, with assigned teams, and with others across the organization, as well as with external vendors and stakeholders as required.Create and deliver work product and other materials in support of Human Resources, to include Human Resources policies, departmental procedures, international employee handbooks, performance management communications and tools, and reports; Create and/or conduct informational briefings/presentations and trainings as needed.Support the talent acquisition/retention processes by working with managers to assess and determine effective organizational design and workforce planning, including the identification of required roles and qualifications to align with and meet business needs. In partnership with compensation, assists with job description development and related hiring/promotional/ development processes, including salary administration/determination that reflects sound compensation practices/guidelines and supports internal equity.Analyze human capital data provided by HR systems, reports, surveys and exit interviews in order to provide relevant metrics and information to internal teams to inform turnover, retention, and other employee trends.Lead and/or participate in cross-department Human Resources initiatives, projects, and/or functional operations as needed.Maintain knowledge on external trends and issues that impact the organization and identify their relevance/applicability to NDI along with recommended actions to ensure compliance or support NDI's ability to be more competitive in its hiring/retention of qualified staff.Partner with NDI international teams, HR team, and other stakeholders (i.e. payroll, office management, etc) with a focus on constant communication and collaboration to ensure consistency and collaboration on outcomes which impact other stakeholders at the Institute.Ensure that all Human Resource information is handled with a high degree of sensitivity, confidentiality and integrity.Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labor/Industrial Relations, or a related field, or equivalent experience.Ten years of related Human Resources experience, preferably in similar roles and within a similar global organization, with a breadth and depth of generalist experience across Human Resources functions/areas, e.g., employee/labor relations; compliance; talent management/strategy; organizational development, including training design/delivery; performance management; diversity, equity, and inclusion). Staff management experience is highly desired.Experience working in a global organization is required.Advanced knowledge of employee relations and the processes associated with analyzing, developing, implementing and administering actions focused on maintaining a positive, productive, and respectful work environment. Previous experience conducting internal investigations, assessing findings, and determining/executing appropriate recommendations/actions for resolution.Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws and the ability to apply that knowledge to ensure compliance. Knowledge/familiarity with international employment practices/labor laws is a plus.Ability to read, research and interpret complex documents and information, and recommend/take appropriate action.A professional presence and strong interpersonal skills for interacting in a courteous, timely, and diplomatic manner with all levels of employees, as well as external parties and stakeholders. The ability to build relationships, establish credibility, influence, and communicate with multicultural and multi-generational individuals and groups is key.Excellent communication skills with the ability to organize, present, and articulate information both verbally and in writing, as well as in a formal presentation format. Effective facilitation and presentation skills.Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.Attention-to-detail with a demonstrated commitment to excellence with the drive to deliver quality, timely, and value-added results and outcomes.Advanced analytical skills with the ability to gather and evaluate complex data and information and develop recommendations and plans of action. Mathematical competency.Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and project management skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines with an appropriate sense of urgency.Ability to assess situations and information, think creatively, devise better ways of doing things and/or innovative solutions, apply discretion, and make good/appropriate judgements.Ability to work with and maintain confidential/sensitive information and ensure it is secured/maintained in an appropriate manner.Ability to work both independently and effectively as a member of a team.Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and familiarity with Human Resource Information System HRIS) usage.
