Summary: The Senior Human Resources Generalist (Senior HRBP) is responsible for HR support within a 500-employee manufacturing facility that includes labor and employee relations through the administration of the grievance procedure, benefit program(s), recruitment, and organizational learning and development activities. They provide on-going support to frontline supervision and senior plant management relative to policies, procedures, contract interpretation, employee counseling, and corrective action.
  • Work closely with the local Union leadership in the resolution of issues prior to the grievance process. This position will administer the first step of the grievance procedure.
  • Assist employees, frontline supervision and plant senior management as required relative to consistent contract and policy interpretation.
  • Support the benefit program for both salaried exempt, non-exempt and hourly union employees.
  • Provide on-going support and assistance with all non-exempt and exempt recruitment. This position will be responsible for the selection of appointed jobs internally.
  • Conduct employee training on benefits, harassment prevention and other Company policies and procedures as required.
  • Provide guidance to all employees on an on-going basis with respect to the Collective Bargaining Agreement, discipline, attendance, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of food production processes a plus
Key AccountabilitiesIn this role you will provide HR leadership to the site, including:
  • Serve as a support key member of the site's extended leadership team, partnering with cross functional leaders to drive business performance using business acumen, strong HR knowledge, communications, and change management expertise.
  • Collaborate with leadership on employee relations matters including investigations, corrective action, employee complaints and career counseling.
  • Establish HR metrics to help site leadership understand HR related topics that support and drive business results.
  • Ensure legislative compliance in such areas as I-9's, poster compliance, minors, wage and hour, for cause substance abuse testing, and annual audits.
  • Ensure implementation and monitor compliance of existing company policies and programs such as postings, orientation, retention, exit interviews and revisions to employment documentation and orientation materials.
  • Partner with leadership to develop and maintain an organizational design structure that provides for appropriate levels of management as well as development opportunities. Direct change management initiatives by developing awareness, understanding, ownership and accountability for change.
  • Lead culture change as part of a journey to increase manufacturing performance through process improvement.
  • Develop the capability of our plant operators through employee development, process improvement and work system evolution
  • Partner with and support the Plant Human Resource Manager to develop a high performing site leadership team and in engaging leaders at all levels.
  • Lead and support key HR initiatives in partnership with the Director, HR Operations in support of the organization including positive employee relations, workforce planning, succession planning and staffing
  • Lead HR initiatives in partnership with the corporate HR team (Talent Management, Total Rewards, etc.)
  • Provide individual coaching needs and identify training and development needs for teams
  • Create a positive employee relations environment through close engagement and interaction with all employees across the site.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience required.
  • Experience leading and supporting strategic initiatives, influencing others, and driving results and significant change.
  • Previous plant/manufacturing experience.
  • Strong data & analytics orientation. Ability to present thought leadership.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Strong planning, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Results oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to listen attentively and actively.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written, as well as the ability to facilitate both small and large groups in a variety of forums including formal presentations, working meetings, business reviews and informal discussions.
  • Demonstrated ability to design effective meetings and small group interactions including one to one discussions and conflict mediations.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships and to build a positive rapport within all levels of the organization (up, down and sideways).
  • A positive attitude, with the ability to influence change.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Human Resources/Industrial Relations or MBA.
  • PHR/SPHR certification preferred.
  • Previous people management experience.
  • 3-5 years of direct experience as an organizational practitioner of Continuous Improvement methods & processes.
