Find your place in technology on #TeamAmexHow will you make an impact in this role?Global Infrastructure – Mainframe & Data Center InfrastructureThe Mainframe & Data Center Infrastructure organization engineers, operates, and supports highly available and scalable infrastructures at the company level, which includes mainframe and middleware systems, database operations, data centers and security services.The Senior Infrastructure Engineer I will lead the engineering and design of critical American Express mainframe applications and infrastructure in conjunction with solving, tuning and debugging of applications and databases using the mainframe platform and will report directly to the Engineering Director for Mainframe Operations and Engineering. We are looking for a hardworking communicator who has excellent focus on the customer experience and big picture!Responsibilities:Engineering large/complex projects with a variety of components and integration points on z/OS and z/LinuxInteract with business and vendor partners to better understand their objectivesInteract with Infrastructure and Application Engineers and Architects to exploit modern mainframe technologies such as, Java, Encryption, Sysplex, Hybrid Cloud, High Availability, Active/Active and mainframe networkingWork with Engineers to define solution requirements with hands-on implementationConduct infrastructure performance and security assessmentsProvide internal analysis and support to ensure proper resolution during outages or periods of degraded system performanceParticipate in brainstorming and discovery exercises to resolve new technologies based on research, proof of concept efforts and independent investigationEnsure engineering is consistent with engineering standards, guidelines and principlesActively participate in team architecture and engineering discussions and forums as a prominent contributorEnsures compliance with architectural, regulatory, and strategic standards, policies, and proceduresActively modernizes platforms and applications using current agile practices (dev/ops)Minimum Qualifications:8+ years engineering experience in a complex mainframe environmentExperience with design and implementation of mainframe and distributed applicationsExperience with mainframe infrastructure, z/OS & control of mainframe architecture, middleware and toolingAdvance knowledge and experience with modern mainframe technologies such as Encryption, Sysplex, Hybrid Cloud, High Availability, Active/Active and Mainframe NetworkingPreferred Qualifications:Advance knowledge and experience with architecture and solutions specially in the capacity of a systems programmerExperience with in depth problem solving, analytical analysis, reporting and presentation to senior leaders and key partnersStrong industry knowledge of latest technologies and its relevance to the American Express environmentDeep subject matter domain expertise and knowledge of z/OS infrastructureAbility to manage, influence and drive vendor direction to deliver innovated solutions that are beneficial to American ExpressDemonstrated exemplary personal integrity and ability to build trust and collaborate across an organizationA superior ability to motivate and inspire team members to deliver on commitmentsExcellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt a message to the appropriate audienceStrong critical thinking and decision-making skillsExperience with TPF technologies hardware and operating systems, and application development QualificationsSalary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually + bonus + benefitsThe above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
