The company is headquartered in Houston, Texas.We are looking for highly-motivated individuals who enjoy working as part of a team in a dynamic and entrepreneurial work environment.Plains has an immediate opening for a Senior Integrity Programs Engineer to join our North American Asset Integrity group in Houston, Texas, or Calgary, Alberta. The mission of this group is to assist Plains in achieving incident-free operations, extending asset life, and maximizing reliability. Reporting to the Manager, Integrity Programs, you will be tasked with developing, implementing, administrating, and improving tools, processes, and programs under Plains' Pressure Equipment Integrity Management (PEIM) Program. Your primary duties will center around program development, technical support, and program assurance for our asset base of piping, vessels, bullets, and spheres.The Asset Integrity group works collaboratively across multiple organizations and assets located throughout the United States and Canada. This group also serves as an interface with regulatory agencies and industry groups including but not limited to: American Petroleum Institute (API), Alberta Boiler Safety Association (ABSA), and Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan (TSASK).The successful candidate will be eligible for company benefits including medical/dental/prescription/vision, 401(k) plan, paid time off (PTO), and other programsThis position will require occasional domestic and cross-border international travel (up to 10%).Responsibilities:
  • Define and lead the development of integrity governance, with a focus on pressure equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards including API 570, AB-512, 29 CFR 1910, CSA B51, and CSA B52.
  • Train and work with regional Asset Integrity and Operations personnel to implement and sustain programs.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging standards, and regulations and adjust programs as needed.
  • Maintain clear and concise program documentation.
  • Lead PEIM external audits, identify gaps, and implement action plans for closure.
  • Act as company subject matter expert (SME) for pressure equipment.
  • Work across departments to emphasize projects that address specific pressure equipment integrity challenges.
  • Provide pressure equipment expertise to guide decisions across the organization.Participate in industry organizations and committees as assigned. Lead delivery of information and influence committee missions and lessons learned for industry improvements.
  • Manage and continually improve assurance activities to ensure program effectiveness.
  • Manage annual program performance reviews with senior leadership.
  • Identify positive and negative trends to create a compelling business case for overall process improvement.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; materials, chemical, or mechanical required. Advanced degree considered an asset.
  • Registered / licensed professional engineer with 12+ years' relevant experience in pressure equipment integrity.
  • Working knowledge of NBBI/ASME/ABSA/TSASK/OSHA pressure equipment regulations and standards.
  • Working knowledge of design, construction, and inspection of pressure vessels; non-destructive testing techniques, and predominant damage mechanisms.
  • Experience with fitness-for-service assessment, risk assessment, and hazard/threat management.
  • Able to identify, assess, and articulate trends and challenges with broader business implications.
  • Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and driven to continue to develop professionally.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Able to travel internationally (valid US or Canadian passport).
  • Cleared criminal history (background), education, and satisfactory reference checks.
  • Compliance with the company's Drug & Alcohol Policy including pre-employment testing.
  • Valid state driver's license and driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
