Job Description:

SGSS, a Parsons company, has an immediate full-time, on-site, opening for a multi-platform, Senior IT (Systems) Administrator supporting Corporate IT infrastructure in Alexandria, VA. This position will be providing supplemental support to a DoD program on a secured client site located in Washington, D.C.

The IT/System Administrator will be responsible for providing world-class technical support and troubleshooting across a variety of systems and applications in person and remotely. Resolve Level 1 & 2 issues with Windows desktops, Windows laptops, Linux servers, cloud (AWS) services, permissions, access request, connectivity issues, hardware failures, etc. Documents, tracks, and reports issues and requests in the Jira Demand/Service management system. The customer site (DoD) management includes IT infrastructure that supports development and testing of spacecraft systems, including servers, storage, network, workstations as well as all installed software. These tasks will be completed in accordance with the customer specifications, organizational requirements and CMMC (NIST 800-171) standards. Candidates should be comfortable in Windows laptop and server environment with a strong understanding of Linux/UNIX workstations.

What You'll Be Doing :

  • Perform Day-to-day system administration, tasking, troubleshooting and prioritization of work in support of corporate user needs. Includes but is not limited to workstations, maintenance of IT assets, server setup and configuration and training lab(s)

  • MUST be self-motivated and able to assertively document and follow-up on customer requests

  • MUST have hands-on knowledge in coordinating problem resolution and working across IT functional areas

  • Responsible for tasking & collaboration with partner IT contractors, vendors and other system administrators at both the Alexandria & Florida offices, as well as DOD government location

  • Maintain and monitor Windows based systems and Linux based applications and desktop virtualization services

  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware server resources (on premise and cloud based), systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backup

  • Support long-term planning and management of infrastructure, including maintenance, upgrades, monthly patch management, integrity of data storage and backup systems and replacement of obsolete equipment

  • Ensures adherence to Change Management and Incident response protocols and procedures

  • Assist with the management, enhanced deployment, configuration, and maintenance of the Slack platform

  • Oversee user access, permissions, and security settings within Slack

  • Keep current on the latest technical certification, technology innovations and assist in determining the best investments for the company and customer

  • Demonstrate to organization and customer, proven ability to manage multiple task/events simultaneously and deliver on time

  • Create and/or maintain operational, configuration and other procedures

  • Customer site duties: Provide supplemental support of, VMWare VSphere installation and administration, and VMWare. Provide direct mission support on customer site as needed in a classified and unclassified Windows\Linux desktop and server environment. Provide Tier 1-III/other support per requests from DoD government customer. Support building and deploying large SANS used in a VMware VSphere environments.

  • Responsible (Supplement support) for system administration at least two other government sites\projects. Tasks include but are not limited to: Linux Developer & OPs workstation setup, maintenance, & troubleshooting, Red Hat and Ubuntu Linux servers, Linux & Windows based server deployment and maintenance, Cisco and Juniper switch configuration, Cisco firewall configuration, and VMWare ESXi and VCenter administration

What Required Skills You'll Bring :

  • Active DoD SECRET clearance , with ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance

  • B.S. in relevant field (Comp. Sci./Engineering, Software Engineering) or 14+ years relevant experience may be substituted for education

  • Demonstrate to organization and customer, proven ability to manage multiple task/events simultaneously and deliver on time

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in VMWare virtual hosting environments, MS Windows Server 2016-2019 administration

  • Must have general experience performing day-to-day administrative tasks related to managing a RedHat Linux based cluster to include storage and networking

  • 10+ years of experience in Active Directory or Windows Enterprise Administration including support delivery, consulting, architecting, IT operations, or equivalent education

  • Minimum of 8 years' operations experience in an enterprise setting, including demonstrated O&M experience (backup/recovery strategies, advanced troubleshooting, patching, hardening, etc.)

  • 10+ years of experience providing Tier 1 – Tier 3 support to user community

  • Solid 8+ years of progressive VMware experience. Strong knowledge of VSphere, Windows, and MacOS

  • 8+ year of supporting tasks associated with the build, implementation, and administration of the On-Premises and Cloud server environments

  • 8+ years of Network Administration or related work experience in supporting, deploying and interconnecting various network technologies at an enterprise scale. Includes Hands on working experience with Networking operations systems such as Cisco, Juniper Screen OS and FortiOS. Strong understanding of TCP/IP and LAN/WAN networking

  • Strong understanding of DISA STIG requirements and implementation

  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities effectively

  • Passionate about cybersecurity, cloud technologies, and problem-solving in IT environments

  • Researching new technologies for all of these environments this includes working with IT management and/or government business leaders to analyze new server requests and deliver allocated server administration tasks within defined timeframes

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

What Desired Skills You Might Bring:

  • Current TS/SCI

  • 10+ years of experience managing\supporting IT infrastructure with Linux/Unix based applications

  • 5+ years Linux administration expertise in RHEL 7 & 8 environment. Includes full management of installations, NFS & application configurations and troubleshooting of all aspects of Linux servers

  • 5+ years of progressive knowledge in AWS EC2 & VPC environments

  • 5+ years of progressive Knowledge of Data Storage Technologies as NAS or SAN

  • 5+ years of System Administrative experience focused on the backend of the business communication platform, Slack

  • Experience in executing information assurance plans and procedures

  • Experience in collection, and communication of user requirements to supervisor to enhance current and future design and implementation of customer systems

  • Proven experience independently researching, planning, presenting, implementing, and maintaining substantial IT infrastructure solutions

  • Programming Languages: Shell Scripting (bash, csh), and HTML/CSS

  • MySQL application and database system support experience

  • COTS Products: Apache Web Server, Netapp, RedHat Satellite Server, RedHat IDM, Juniper, Fortinet Fortigate, Dell Servers & Switches, VMware VSphere

  • Background in SaaS infrastructure and service development, ideally across a wide range of software, operational and networking aspect

Salary Range:

$96,400.00 - $168,700.00
