Senior Lab Scientist
- The Primary duties of the Senior Clinical Laboratory Scientist will be to provide technical assistance to the HSWL SC Laboratory Consultant with backup duties performing testing and serving as the technical consultant in the TRACEN Cape May Laboratoryas needed due to staffing or workload.
- WJM Professionals is recruiting for a Senior Lab Scientist to provide personal medical services to all Active Duty beneficiaries.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Fulfill the duties of a laboratory technical consultant for amoderately complex laboratory as defined by CLIA;
- Ensures the laboratory is enrolled in the CG-approved proficiency testing program and that all PT policies and guidance are followed;
- Ensures quality control and quality assurance activities are performed per SOPs and CLIA regulations;
- Resolves technical problems and ensures remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications;
- Ensures patient test results are not reported until all corrective action has been taken and the test system is functioning properly;
- Responsible for the training and competency of all staff according to the frequency required by CLIA and Coast Guard policies who conduct pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing to ensure that they are competent and maintain their competency to process specimens, perform test procedures and report test results promptly and proficiently, and whenever necessary, identify needs for remedial training or continuing education to improve skills;
- Develop and implement SOPs as requested;
- Ensure the establishment and maintenance of acceptable levels of analytical performance for each test system;
- Order Medical Laboratory supplies;
- Restock Medical Laboratory supplies;
- Inventory Medical Laboratory supplies to ensure adequate supplies and controls;
- Provide immediate evaluation and management of emergent problems as they occur;
- Prepare and submit appropriate documentation as specified in applicable regulations;
- Participate in the Quality Improvement (QI) program of the clinic;
- Responsible for ensuring CLIA compliance of dependent sites;
- Support the HSWL SC Laboratory consultant with;
- Laboratory Director duties as delegated;
- Ensuring CLIA Compliance with approximately 36+ ashore and 89 + afloat units enterprise-wide e.g.;
- Ensuring compliance with the PT program;
- Ensuring monthly review of logs is being completed and posted on the HSWL SC Laboratory Portal;
- Ensure CLIA information for each CLIA certificate is updated as required by federal regulations;
- Assist in answering technical questions from the fleet;
- Ensuring that laboratory personnel are performing the test methods as required for accurate and reliable results;Maintains medical laboratory performance by establishing quality standards; developing operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures; ensuring staff compliance. Implements new programs, tests, methods, instrumentation, and procedures by investigating alternatives; preparing proposals; developing and performing parallel testing; monitoring progress. Resolves problems by consulting with other laboratory managers, technical coordinators, laboratory directors, physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals; attending committee meetings. Prepares physicians, nurses, support staff, and patients by teaching analytical theory and standardized procedural guidance.
- Other laboratory related administrative duties as may be assigned by the Clinic Administrator, Laboratory Director, HSWL SC Laboratory Consultant or designee. The HSWL SC Laboratory Consultant will determine if other duties are appropriate and the best use of the resource.
- The MT/CLS shall meet or exceed the industry standards in accordance with established principles, practices and ethics of a certified MT or CLS. The standards of performance for all employees provided by the contractor shall reflect the degree and care, skill and learning expected of a reasonably prudent healthcare provider in the MT/CLS profession in the state of their practice.
- The Contractors will provide professional services to U.S. Coast Guard locations Specified in the Performance Work Statement (PWS) (Attachment Perform laboratory testing and evaluation including interpretation of tests in the areas of:
- Hematology;
- Urinalysis;
- Chemistry;
- Mycology;
- Parasitology;
- Other areas as needed;
QUALIFICATIONS.The provider of MT/CLS services shall possess and maintain the following:
- A diploma from an accredited school of Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science. (Bachelors degree at a minimum).
- Current certification as an MT or CLS with the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
- Maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) for the Health Care Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) or the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).
- Have a minimum of 6 years experience providing MT/CLS services with two (2) years of recent (immediately preceding the submission of this offer) clinical experience. Additionally, two years of supervisory experience is required for each of the following specialty/subspecialties (Mycology, Parasitology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, and Hematology). Finally, two years of experience in overseeing and implementing a laboratory quality assurance program.
- No adverse information on file with the National Practitioners Data Bank (NPDB).
CREDENTIAL REVIEW: The contractor shall submit the following credentials to be evaluated for technical acceptability. A current resume including AT LEAST the following information:
- Awards and certifications received.
- Previous work references including the name of the organization, number of years rendered, address and name of point of contract with the telephone number;
- Professional organization affiliations and memberships;
- Professional Training/Courses attended in the past two years;
- Career history;
- Date of birth (to be used only for independent query of the NPDB);
- Social Security Number;
- Professional Experience;
- Degrees earned;
NECESSARY COPIES:
- A diploma from an accredited school of Medical Technologist or Clinical Laboratory Science (a Polaroid picture is acceptable as a copy);
- Current certification as an MT or CLS with the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP);
- Evidence of immunity to Hepatitis A and B and evidence of freedom from chronic communicable disease(s) i.e., HIV, TB and sexually transmitted infections (within 30 days of start of work);
- Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) for the Health Care Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) or the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP);
- Proof of insurability against malpractice in the amount of one million ($1,000,000.00) dollars per occurrence;
- At least three (3) letters of recommendation from recent employers addressing Medical Laboratory services.
